The main purpose of the Trainee Metrologist is to learn to calibrate Electronic Gauges, Instruments, attribute gauges, variable gauges to procedures and to construct Modular Gauges to achieve a known state of calibration.
Compare daily mixing sheet with the work instruction and resolve discrepancies.
To ensure that the Laboratory maintains it SANAS/ISO 17025 Accreditation.
Calibrate and issue certificates for all Gauges and Measuring instruments according to procedures to ensure a known state of calibration.
Calculate and report on the Uncertainty of Measurement as stipulated by SANAS/ISO 17025.
Assist with the Measurement of components as required.
Construct and Manufacture temporary Gauges as required during Product Development phase.
Represent Metrology at internal and external Design Reviews.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
National Diploma in Mechanical engineering or Minimum N3 qualification and a Trade Test as a.
Turner/ Fitter & Turner.
Good mathematical skills.
Previous working experience would be advantageous.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Good understanding of the explosive environment regulations
Knowledge of ISO 17025 and other related international standards.
Good problem-solving skills, customer liaison skills as well as Human Relations skills.
A flexible, independent and analytical thinker with thoroughness and tenacity.
Fully computer literate and ability to work on different quality / statistical / MS Software / SAP.
