    Training and Development Specialist: Centurion

    • An exciting and challenging opportunity has become available for a Training and Development Specialist, within our HR: Training team. Based at our Regional Offices in Centurion.
    • We are looking for a resilient, efficient and influential individual with retail experience. This individual will be involved in executing the training plan for Ackermans Operations to ensure value-add by transferring relevant skills and knowledge in order to equip our people with the aim to grow and develop the organisation.

    QUALIFICATIONS required:

    Essential:

    • A formal diploma or degree in Human Resource management, Training or Industrial Psychology

    KNOWLEDGE required:

    • Knowledge of competency based training and the development of training courses
    • Working knowledge of the latest Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, Power Point & Outlook) is an important requirement.
    • Knowledge of instructional design concepts and methodologies

    SKILLS required:

    • Customer service focus both internally and externally and ensuring good interpersonal relationships
    • Excellent language skills (verbal and written) in English, and ability to converse in a second official language would be a benefit
    • Excellent presentation skills
    • Accuracy in execution, attention to detail and reliability in meeting set deadlines and work with sense of urgency
    • Be innovative and show initiative
    • Good judgment together with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
    • Exceptional planning, organising & time management skills

    The ability to:

    • influence across various levels and functions within the business
    • build and relationship with all relevant stakeholders (Operations and Training & Development team)
    • communicate effectively at all levels both within, as well as outside the company
    • be resilient, have tenacity and maintain high levels of drive and initiative under pressure

    EXPERIENCE required:

    • A minimum of 3 years relevant experience gained as Training and Development Practitioner within a retail environment
    • Experience in competency based training and the ability to conduct and develop courses
    • Experience in facilitation of learning event(s)

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • To facilitate the transfer of skills and knowledge that is relevant to business needs within a given framework to enhance performance
    • To effectively co-ordinate training activities for our Store employees to ensure the successful implementation of the Training Plan
    • To develop relevant value-adding training material and workshops that will support business needs
    • To collect, integrate and provide accurate and objective information to all relevant stakeholders
    • To accurately assess skills, abilities and knowledge in order to determine competence.
    • To effectively implement training business plans
    • To evaluate training material and workshops on an on-going basis to ensure it is relevant, up-to-date and aligned with business needs
    • Identification of changes in existing training material and ensure the update thereof
    • Modification of existing material
    • The monitoring of training results
    • Recommendation of new training approaches, techniques and programmes
