DUTIES
Driving a truck, loading and offloading of material of the section to ensure productivity and enhance performance for effective service delivery. Plan daily tasks and moving from one place to the next according to instruction/works order from the Foreman/Supervisor.
Ensure the waste is securely contained and covered to prevent it from escaping or causing hazards during transit. Ensure that the waste is transported only to facilities or places that are legally authorized to accept. such waste. Take all reasonable steps to prevent any spillage of waste or littering from the vehicle during collection and transport. Follow all municipal safety policies and procedures, including always wearing appropriate PPE.
Strictly adhere to all national and local traffic laws and regulations in South Africa. Administrative duties. Maintain accurate logs of collected waste volumes, completed mileage, fuel consumption and any incidents or issues encountered. Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, customers or community members regarding any delays or issues in collection schedules.
Promptly reports any mechanical issues, malfunctions, or damage to the vehicle or its specialized equipment to the supervisor or maintenance department. Conduct daily pretrip and posttrip inspections of the vehicle. Assisting in any other work when there is no work at the driving sub section to ensure effective service delivery. Perform any other Ad Hoc tasks and duties as requested or required by management (supervisor) from time to time.
