    Town Planning Inspector _ MN3928/25

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Grade 12. National Diploma or Degree in Town & Regional Planning, Land Use Management or related field. Registration with SACPLAN as technical planner or professional planner will be an added advantage.

    • Ensure that work activity is carried out according to the Waste Management Licence conditions and/ as per the relevant Norms and Standards for the site.  Opens and Closes the waste site in accordance to work schedule.  Performs the responsibilities of the position within the legislative and regulatory standards set out in the National Environmental Management Act and the National Environmental Waste Management Act.
    • Recycling and Green Waste Chipping: Ensure that recycling bins are free of garbage and nonrecyclable items. Ensure that the green waste to be chipped is free of foreign materials.  Professional and effective access controlling and spotting at dumping site:  Visual inspection of waste, screen for prohibited wastes and record waste loads.  
    • Directing or redirecting drivers to specific dumping points on site.  Redirecting driver to alternative dump sites if waste may not be dumped at specific site.  Control traffic entering and exiting the disposal site; Record and maintain daily records of vehicles, quantity and type of waste entering the disposal site. 
    • Be able to provide information and respond to complaints and inquiries regarding standards and procedures at the waste site. Prohibits scavenging attempts and ensures adherence to Safety Regulations and report any accidents or unsafe conditions immediately to the Supervisor or Manager. Assist with the control of the landfill site and/ transfer station, in the absence of the Site Supervisor.  Perform any other related Ad Hoc tasks and duties within waste management section as may be delegated by the supervisor/manager

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Grade 12. National Diploma in Environmental Management/sciences/law or equivalent qualification. Relevant B degree or B Tech Environmental Law/management/sciences/or equivalent qualification will be an added advantage.

    • Coordinate and implement pollution control strategies, promote sustainability development and conservation of natural resources. Ensure legal compliance of principles of sustainability development. Coordinate Municipal comments on EIA processes and reports. Provide comments on environmental impact assessments (EIAs), environmental management programme reports, mine closure reports and other technical reports. Conduct and coordinate environmental education, awareness campaigns and training.
    • Coordinate compliance, monitoring and enforcement activities for the Municipality. Conduct regular compliance monitoring at industries. Conduct internal audits on the status of compliance, with regards to the conditions set out by the EA and EMPr, as well as providing recommendations to improve overall environmental compliance. Responsible for implementation of projects like recycling, waste minimization, separation at source or waste to energyefficiency improvements.
    • Assist in the development of waste and environmental management Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Logistical management of assets. Manage and maintain specific administrative and reporting requirements associated with the key performance and result indicators. Attend to complaints related to environmental management.
    • Coordinate and control the implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting sequences of outcomes associated with plans and programmes designed to accomplish key service delivery objectives with respect to the environmental management in order to ensure the provision of a clean and healthy environment conducive to and supporting a better quality of life in Midvaal.     • Grade 10. Grade 12 will be an added advantage.

    • Strictly adhere to all national and local traffic laws and regulations in South Africa.  Administrative duties. Maintain accurate logs of collected waste volumes, completed mileage, fuel consumption and any incidents or issues encountered. Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, customers or community members regarding any delays or issues in collection schedules.
    • Promptly reports any mechanical issues, malfunctions, or damage to the vehicle or its specialized equipment to the supervisor or maintenance department. Conduct daily pretrip and posttrip inspections of the vehicle.  Assisting in any other work when there is no work at the driving sub section to ensure effective service delivery.  Perform any other Ad Hoc tasks and duties as requested or required by management (supervisor) from time to time.

    • Coordinating with other workers to ensure that operations onsite meet safety standards.     • Grade 12.  National Diploma or relevant equivalent NQF6 qualification in Information Technology.  Computer Literate (proficiency in MS Office Suite).
