Ultrasound Radiographer Grade 1 to 3 (Sonographer) at Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness

REQUIREMENTS:

• Appropriate qualification that allows registration with HPCSA in Ultrasound Radiography
• Registration with HPCSA as Radiographer in Ultrasound
• Grade 1: None (RSA) / 1 year (foreign) / Grade 2: 10 years / Grade 3: 20 years
• Comprehensive sonography education and extensive hands-on experience, with emphasis on obstetrics and gynaecology
• Thorough understanding of human anatomy and physiology
• Commitment to ethical practice, maintaining patient confidentiality
• Strong abilities to interact effectively with patients and medical staff
• Meticulous reporting of ultrasound findings

DUTIES:

• Perform full range of obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound scans, including routine, level II/III, and specialised assessments
• Use advanced ultrasound equipment to produce accurate diagnostic images
• Identify normal and abnormal findings, provide clear structured reports
• Adopt responsibility for back-up and storage of ultrasound images
• Deliver compassionate, patient-centred care
• Manage administration and care of ultrasound equipment
• Participate in departmental meetings, case discussions, audits
• Support junior staff and students through mentorship
