    Ultrasound Radiographer / Sonographer: Grade 1 - 3

    Qualifications and Competencies

    • A minimum of An appropriate Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Ultrasound Radiographer/ Sonographer.
    • Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as an Ultrasound Radiographer/Sonographer.
    • Experience for Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA as an Ultrasound Radiographer/Sonographer.
    • Experience for Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years appropriate /recognisable experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Ultrasound Radiographer/Sonographer.
    • Experience for Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognisable after registration with the HPCSA as an Ultrasound Radiographer/Sonographer.
    • Inherent requirements of the job: Willingness to do after-hour work and be on call including shift work.
    • Computer literacy including MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Virtual meeting platforms literacy

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

    • Prepare exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct ultrasound examinations in accordance with infectious diseases, sterilization and patient safety protocols, policies and procedures.
    • Perform ultrasound examination that gives important ultrasound diagnosis.
    • Use ultrasound machine to view, interpret images with sound waves for diagnostic and treatment of medical conditions.
    • Coordinate and organize daily workload and smooth running of the Department.
    • Must have knowledge of the department function.
    • Ensure equipment is adequately serviced.
    • High risk obstetrics scanning, abdominal scanning, general body scans and sound reporting.
    • Attend seminars and workshops to keep up to date with advanced techniques and technology.
    • Monitor stock, maintain adequate weekly and monthly statistics.
    • Promote teamwork, interpersonal relationships among staff members and other health work protocols, policies & procedures in line with applicable legislation.
    • Promote Batho - Pele principles in the execution of duties for effective service delivery.
    • Ensure that examination request form is complete, contains relevant information and meet standard of medical necessity.
    • Evaluate adequate patient preparation before evaluation.
