UWM 56/25 Head Integrated Waste Management Strategy & Policy at City of Cape Town

Requirements

• A relevant B degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Sciences, Social Sciences
• 8 years’ relevant experience required as per KPA
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Management experience at an appropriate level
• A valid driver’s licence
• 5 -10 years’ experience or exposure in a waste management related field (advantageous)

Key Performance Areas

• Develop and implement IWM strategies and IWM Plan including
• Waste Strategy, IWM Policy and IWM By-Law
• Initiate and co-ordinate Waste Strategy, IWM Policy and By-law implementation and review
• Develop and implement strategic support for Urban Waste
• Management Directorate, IWM planning and operations
• Manage and drive the City of Cape Town Waste Accreditation process
• Performance management of staff and administration
• Interpret and analyse legislative and corporate policies, standards and procedures and apply them correctly and effectively
• Ensuring legislative compliance in terms of NEM:WA
• Plan, design and implement a variety of systems and procedures
• Engage with a variety of internal and external stakeholders at executive and senior management levels
• Network and build effective relationships and partnerships within and across the organisation
• Evaluate and comment on national and provincial legislation, draft policies of Council and applications for environmental lice
