Vision 2040 General Manager: Advocacy And Stakeholder Relations at South African National Parks (SANParks)

Requirements

• A post-graduate qualification that includes a focus on Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or Stakeholder Engagement will be an added advantage
• 8 years experience in corporate communications, public relations, or stakeholder engagement environments with 5 years in a senior management position.
• Must exhibit a demonstrable ability to translate strategy into action.
• Must exhibit a demonstrable ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way.
• Legislative understanding (PFMA, NEMA, PAIA, POPI, etc.)
• In-depth comprehension of Public Relations, Media Relations, and Stakeholder Engagement Principles.
• Exposure to the communication environment in the public sector and/or state-owned entity will be an added advantage.
• Understanding of government protocols.
• Strategic planning, financial management skills, and interpersonal skills.
• People management, conflict management, and leadership skills.
• Project management skills, computer literacy, and networking skills.
• Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to manage and operate in a matrix environment.

Responsibilities

• Define, develop, and implement strategic advocacy and stakeholder engagement solutions
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including communities, government, civil society, NGOs and private sector
• Maintain updated stakeholder segmentation across Mega Living Landscapes
• Provide strategic support and advice on stakeholder engagement, advocacy ,and communication
• Design and implement strategic advocacy and stakeholder engagement strategies and plans for the Vision 2040 Project
• Ensure appropriate ongoing engagements are maintained and led at the appropriate levels at all time
• Co-ordinate and facilitate stakeholder engagement events, workshops, and meetings
• Produce periodic stakeholder perception reports with proposed solutions
• Design and implement strategic communication and reputation management solutions
• Integrate approach to advocacy and stakeholder engagements to overall SANParks Integrated Strategic Communication Strategy
• Produce and publish content that enhances SANParks’ messaging and reputation.
• Identify, conceptualise and provide communication capacitation support and training for key, identified strategic role players.
• Implement sound Corporate Governance and financial management.
• Provide leadership, development, and management of Human Capital.
• Develop and oversee the implementation of relevant functional policies.
