Water Inspector at City of Cape Town

Requirements

• A relevant trade test certificate and successful completion of a recognised apprenticeship or CETA accreditation in plumbing plus a NTC 2 qualification.
• At least 3 to 4 years relevant experience.
• Computer literacy.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work under stressful conditions and in all  weather conditions.
• A valid driver’s license.
• The candidate must be eligible to become a Peace Officer and therefore be cleared of criminal records.

Key Performance Areas

• Regulating and enforcing the Schedule 1 of the Water By-Law with regard to water conservation and demand management.
• Monitoring and enforcing Water By-laws and its related policies and procedures.
• Ensuring efficient service delivery and client satisfaction and enhance optimal revenue collection.
• Providing technical support to internal stakeholders, plumbers and contractors.
• Maintaining a standard of quality in the water services and plumbing installations
• Confirming that all Section 54 Notice of Contraventions and Section 56 fines and are timeously executed.
• Co-ordinating special projects regarding Water Saving initiatives.
• Verifying, update and maintain all correspondence and reports from the District, provide information to the Water Inspectorate division, consumer and relative stakeholders.
• Ensuring sound administrative tasks are performed
