Winder Engine Driver - Wessels Mine at South32

ABOUT THE ROLE:

• This role is a permanent full-time position. As a winding engine driver, you will be responsible to monitor and Control the Safe Operation of the Mine Winder to Transport People, Equipment and Materials..

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Receive and reply to signals from Banks man and onsetter for starting and stopping conveyances according to regulation 16 Mine Health and Safety Act;
• Conduct regular checks on all signalling devices, access doors and signalling lights;
• Adhering to all safety Emergency procedures;
• Drive under controlled conditions during Shaft Examinations;
• Transport material and equipment by means of hoists;
• Transport people by means of winders;
• Ensure that weight and loading regulations are strictly adhered to;
• Test the mechanical and electrical safety devices on winding plants;
• Stopping the Winding operations if the working conditions are unsafe.
• Start and take control of winders and shut down winding plants;
• Report any faults and sub-standard conditions;
• Maintain the housekeeping standards in the work area;
• Safe operating of Winding Engine in accordance with Regulation 16 of the Mine Health and Safety Act.

ABOUT YOU:

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Winder Engine Driver;

Qualifications for this role are:

• Grade 12 with Mathematics;
• Government Hoist Drivers certificate for AC winder as per regulation 16.83.1 of the Mine Health and Safety Act;
• Valid drivers license.
