    Process Engineer

    As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for:

    • Processing development and optimisation.
    • Managing projects from inception to implementation including commissioning of new equipment.
    • Updating, publish and communicate process flow diagrams, process and instrumentation diagrams, functional design specifications and mass and energy balances.
    • Updating product specifications for the area and communicate to plant personnel.
    • Reviewing start-up and shut down procedures, best operating practices, and training manuals.
    • High level trouble shooting.
    • Root cause failure analysising and close outs.
    • Developing high level process designs. 
    • Carrying out and participate in feasibility studies. 
    • Leading design review meetings and conduct peer reviews of new designs.
    • Creating an understanding of environmental standards and engineer improvements with current and future legislative requirements in mind.

    What are we looking for?

    • BSc Chemical Engineering Degree.
    • At least 5 years’ experience as a Process Engineer in a manufacturing / heavy industry environment.
    • Experience in the Pulp & Paper industry would be an advantage.
    • Registration as a Professional Engineer is an added advantage.
    • SAP experience preferred.

    Finance Officer: Accounts Receivable

    As a Finance Officer - Accounts Receivable, you will be responsible to:

    • Supervise the credit control team, review work completed to identify and close gaps, improve processes, provide coaching, provide guidance on complex reviews and customer queries.  
    • Analyse and evaluate work performed by credit controllers for new and existing customer accounts.
    • Review credit bureau data and financial statements. Validating information before making recommendations to senior management for approval.
    • Guide the team to conduct data analysis of customer accounts daily to identify risks and ensure appropriate controls are in place.  
    • Analyse overdue accounts and ageing reports. Intervene promptly to find a resolution.
    • Identify insurance gaps and liaise with the insurer to obtain maximum coverage to reduce Sappi’s risk. 
    • Monitor and track temporary credit limits and customers that are overdue and up for next review.
    • Assess if rebate payments can be released in line with the customers payment terms.
    • Prepare and submit customer information for commercial review to senior management. 
    • Coordinate information in the preparation of bi-annual board papers that entails customer trading history, credit, and insured limits.  
    • Extract, analyse, and prepare monthly reports i.e. SSA and Global Credit Risk Report, Credit Insurance Declarations and other Adhoc credit reports.
    • Gather and coordinate information and data from SAP in preparation of budgets, forecasts and information required for quarterly and bi-annual reports.
    • Monitor the cash management process which includes cash application and cash clearing.
    • Prepare and submit weekly cash forecast for review.

    What are we looking for?

    • Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting or Finance  or related equivalent
    • Credit Risk Certification would be preferred and substantial progress towards an Honours Degree. 
    • 3 or more years relevant Credit Risk and Credit Management experience
    • Supervisor / Management experience
    • Proficiency in MS Office and SAP

    Assistant: Copeland

    As an Assistant: Copeland, you will be responsible for: 

    • Assisting in stacking charcoal, filling charcoal into charcoal bin and feeding charcoal into reactor when required
    • Making sure Soda Ash truck is correctly loaded and the weight of the truck is within the limit and is recorded properly in the book
    • Operating Soda Ash offloading conveyor and chutes, preventing spillages of Soda Ash
    • Bagging spilled soda ash into one tonne bags
    • Adhering to safety regulations and the use of safety equipment as supplied for the tasks mentioned above
    • Helping where ever required when requested by the Production Foreman e.g. during shuts, blockages in the process
    • Adhering to environmental policy and procedures including: Reducing wastes, Preventing spills, Complying with hazardous chemical handling procedure and Complying with environmental legal requirements
    • Maintaining a high level of good housekeeping in the workplace at all times and take corrective action in terms of SHEQ conditions and hazards

    What are we looking for?

    • Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent
    • N1 Pulp and Paper or NCV Level 2
    • Minimum one year working experience in a pulp production environment is preferred
    • Competency as Copeland Assistant is preferred

    Automation / Instrumentation Technician in Training FTC - 18 months

    Training and Development (TIT Programme):

    Administrative Training

    • OHS Act, Lockout, SAP, LMF 11, Bar Charts, Drawings, Rotable Procedures, MSG3 Maintenance Management.

    Practical Training

    • SKF Bearings (Basic & Intermediate), Problem Solving/RCAs, Welding, Rigging, Hydraulics, Lubrication, Fault Finding.

    Plant-Specific Equipment

    • Tailored training based on discipline: Instrumentation, DCS, QCS.

    Practical Experience

    • Assist Technicians with daily tasks and projects.
    • Step up as Shift Foreman for 3 weeks.
    • Gain leadership experience as Maintenance Support, Foreman, or Superintendent for 3 weeks.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Recognised Trade Test Certificate in Instrumentation.
    • NQF 6 - National Diploma N6/S4 in Instrumentation.
    • 5 years post-apprentice experience.
    • Valid driver’s license.

    Shift Superintendent PM2

    As a Shift Superintendent PM2 you will be responsible for:

    Shift Management:

    • Ensure smooth shift handovers following best practices.
    • Participate in relevant forums and meetings (e.g., SBT, Shift Superintendent, MDT).

    Employee Development & Relations:

    • Coach and mentor team members, providing on-the-job and external training as needed.

    Reeler Assistant #2 Uptakes

    As a Reeler Assistant #2 Uptakes you will be responsible for:

    • Operate the reel conveyer safely and efficiently
    • Move reels onto the scale for weighing purposes, then onto the conveyors to be transported to the pulp slab for storage
    • Label reels effectively with printed labels.
    • Perform set functions as directed by the Process Operator
    • Perform general cleaning of the relevant machines and equipment during shut downs or as times permits
    • Report all equipment failures and abnormal plant conditions
    • Use and understand all best practices related to the position and equipment being operated
    • Perform all duties as requested by the Process Operator or the Shift Superintendent
    • Identification; communication and mitigation of risks

    What are we looking for?

    Management Forester

    As a Management Forester, you will be responsible for:

    • Build, maintain and reinforce a “predict and prevent” safety culture in all integrated operations
    • Inspect operations regularly to identify risks & ensure that timeous action (blanking & pest control, coppice management) is undertaken.
    • Plan & conduct regular field inspections to ensure that crops, through the timing of operations (weed control, pest & disease management), achieve maximum yields within cost constraints.
    • Ensure that plantations use the Fire Risk Management System (FRMS) to identify risks. Record & implement fire control procedures in order to ensure the effective protection of people, plantations and other assets from forest fires.
    • Develop a tactical plan & ensure that the annual plan of operations for both commercial and open areas comply with standards and service level agreements
    • Develop a pre-harvest plan per compartment in collaboration with the Contractor and Silviculture.
    • Conduct a risk assessment per compartment in order to mitigate potential risks.
    • Ensure that the Harvesting budget is managed effectively by ensuring sales target tons/per day is achieved.
    • Compile in conjunction with Roads Engineer, annual tactical road maintenance plan.
    • Scheduling of short-haul and loading operations to ensure rail/road transport is released on time.
    • Ensure that company assets such as buildings, villages and company houses are maintained and managed effectively according to set standards (hygiene & legal compliance) and within budget constraints.
    • Ensure that relations with communities, other internal and external stakeholders are effectively maintained and managed in order to ensure company image is upheld, risks mitigated and relationships enhanced.

    What are we looking for?

    • National Diploma in Forestry or related qualification
    • Minimum of three years relevant experience.
    • Valid driver’s license.

    Saveall Production Assistant

    As a Saveall Production Assistant you will be responsible for:

    • Perform daily inspections on Kraft linear board, Newsprint and Groundwood thickeners / save-all’s
    • Identify any operational or mechanical problems and ensure that all problems are corrected
    • Report to Paper Specialist or Shift Superintendent if problems cannot be fixed in the run
    • Clean and maintain thickeners/save –all daily
    • Ensure that Thickeners/ save- all’s run at maximum efficiency at all time
    • Prepare sector bags
    • Supervise contractors working on Thickener/save-all during shuts on ground wood
    • Ensure good housekeeping
    • Comply with all the relevant Safety, health, Environment, and quality requirements

    What are we looking for?

    • Matric with Maths and Science, or an N3 Engineering Studies, or N3 Pulp and Paper.
    • Basic knowledge of Kraft linear board, Newsprint, or Groundwood Operations.
    • Mechanical Experience will be advantageous.
    • Experience working with Thickeners and save-all systems will be advantageous.
