    Center Administrator (3 Years Fix-Term Contract)

    Minimum Requirements 

    • National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or higher in Secretarial Studies, Office Management. Public Administration, Business Management, or related field.   
    • At least 3 years of relevant experience in a public institution research environment, or higher education sector, with proven knowledge of administrative and financial systems. 
    • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines. 
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial management systems.  

    Recommendations 

    • Experience working in research institutions, NGOs, or the water/environment sectors. 
    • Knowledge of project management tools. 
    • Familiarity with procurement and logistics processes. 
    • Additional language skills relevant to the Northern Cape region. 

    Duties and responsibilities 

    • Oversees and coordinates all administrative operations of the Center. 
    • Provide executive support to the Centre Director, including diary management, documentation and reports. 
    • Coordination events, workshops, and other research-related activities. 
    • Management of procurement processes in compliance with university policies.
    • Monitor budget and assist with financial reporting in collaboration with relevant university departments and funders. 
    • Liaise with internal and external collaborators and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration. 
    • Handling internal and external communication, including emails, phone calls, and stakeholder inquiries. 
    • Support grant and project administration, including documentation and compliance. 
    • Ensure the office, center laboratories, supplies, and equipment are well maintained.

    Officer (P10): Legal Compliance and Discipline

    Minimum requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in law or equivalent.
    • 2 - 3 years related experience.
    • Computer literate.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    General Legal Compliance

    • General duties associated with legal compliance.
    • Implement and manage an effective legal compliance program.
    • Develop and review University policies to ensure legal compliance.
    • Advise management on the University’s compliance with laws and regulations through detailed reports.
    • Create and manage effective action plans in response to audit discoveries and compliance violations.
    • Assess University operations to determine compliance risk.
    • Ensure all employees are educated on the latest regulations and processes.
    • Resolve employee concerns about legal compliance.
    • Ensuring timeous submission of reports in respect of relevant legislation.
    • Monitoring and informing the University community regarding new / amended legislation.

    Student discipline

    • Receiving student disciplinary cases from Security Department.
    • Checking student disciplinary cases to determine if there are grounds for disciplinary action, or whether it should be referred to the relevant house committee for action.
    • Drafting of charges and issuing of notices to students.
    • Acting as Prosecutor at Student Disciplinary Hearings.

    Monitoring, evaluation and reporting

    • Monitoring and reporting on progress against operational initiatives.
    • Monitoring and reporting on legislative and statutory compliance.
    • Promoting sound institutional governance by participating in Institutional governance structures.
    • Identifying risks relating to the field of responsibility, develop and implement mitigating strategies.
    • Ensuring proper record keeping of all aspects within field of responsibility.

    Choir Conductor (P15)

    Minimum Requirements

    • Grade 12.
    • Music qualification will be an added advantage.

    Recommendation 

    • Diploma in Music /Bachelor of Music Degree with specialisation in choral conducting or related field such as music education and performance. 
    • Must have experience in conducting amateur choirs.
    • A proven track record with various choral competitions.
    • Read and teach music.
    • Have experience in organizing traditional and contemporary styles of music.
    • Be available to do afternoon rehearsals as well as occasional morning and evening performances, and weekend workshops and camps.
    • Computer literate.
    • Have experience in mentoring and developing music leadership gifts in others.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Conduct regular rehearsals to prepare amateur choir to perform at university events and graduations.
    • Prepare amateur choir to compete at music events, such as festivals and competitions.
    • Develop choral repertoire of songs.
    • Plan, lead and coordinate with choirs, praise teams and instrumental groups weekly rehearsals.
    • Recruit new members for the choir.
    • Assist and work closely with the IT team regarding all audio and visual needs of the choir.
    • Report to the Officer: Student.
    • Development on conditions and needs for the maintenance of musical equipment.
    • Arrange for the purchase and maintenance of music supplies, upon approval by Dean: Student Affairs.
    • Assist with finding substitute musicians when not personally available.
    • Work within the University policies and procedures.
    • Be on time for all performance events.
