    SANParks CATHSSETA Internship Programme (Cape Region)

    • Applications are hereby invited from graduates who completed their National Diploma, Bachelor’ Degree and Honours Degree (NQF6/7/8) at a Higher Education Institution (HEI) in South Africa and wish to be placed at SANParks for a period of 12 months with a monthly stipend of R6 335.69 – R9 088.37 depending on qualification NQF Level. SANParks is under no obligation to employ the Intern upon completion of the programme.

    Requirements

    To qualify for the Internship Placement Programme, you must –

    • Be an unemployed graduate age 18-35.
    • Must be a South African Citizen
    • Have completed a National Diploma, Bachelor’ Degree and Honours Degree (NQF6/7/8) under the above-mentioned discipline/fields of study from a South African Public Higher Education Institution (HEI).
    • Must not have previously been employed nor participated in an Internship/Placement programme in the Public Service or Public.

    Salary

    • R6 335.69 – R9 088.37 per month

    Requirements

    • Be in possession of a Legal degree (B Juris, B Proc, LLB) and be an Admitted Attorney
    • NQF level 9 – post-graduate qualification will serve as an added advantage.

    Responsibilities

    • Ensure that SANParks’ policies are compliant with applicable legislation and advise on general policy matters.
    • Coordinate Labour and Employment legislative comments within the organization and address comments to the relevant government department.
    • Provide legal support to ensure overall compliance with Labour and Employment Law.
    • Conduct research and provide legal opinions in respect of Labour and Employment Law, including the Labour Relations Act (LRA), Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), Employment Equity Act (EEA), and related legislation.
    • Manage litigation relating to the unit.
    • Attend PAIA’s requests related to the unit in support to the information officer and the Deputy information officer
    • Ensure compliance with corporate governance principles
    • Participate in the review, and implement internal policies on Human Capital Management Department (HCM) compliance, employee relations, workplace conduct, whistle-blower protection, etc.
    • Ensure HCM policies meet best practices and local/international legal standards.
    • Lead audits and assessments on labour law and governance compliance.
    • Provide legal support to the Human Capital Management Department.
    • Provide legal support with respect to Employment and Labour law matters.
    • Resolve potential legal disputes and negotiate settlement term.
    • Mitigate labour-related risks through audits, training, and policy reviews.
    • Monitor changes in labour laws and update SANParks’ practices accordingly.
    • To build, enhance and maintain stakeholder relationships.
    • Collaborate with HCM, Legal, Operations, and external advisors to ensure a consistent approach to labour governance.
    • Represent the organization in external forums or industry bodies on labour compliance and governance issues.
    • Prepare reports for EXCO, Board, and regulatory bodies.
    • Maintain records of labour disputes, settlements, and legal precedents

    Salary: R1 115 100.00– R1 672 650.00 Per Annum

    Assistant Section Ranger

    Requirements

    • NQF level 6/National Diploma in Nature Conservation/ Nature Science/ Environmental Management.
    • NQF level 7 in Nature Conservation/ Nature Science/ Environmental Management would be an added advantage.
    • Firearm competency (Handgun and Self-Loading Rifle Firearm) would be an added advantage.
    • Grade 2 Environmental Management Inspector would be an added advantage.
    • 2-4 years in conservation, wildlife management, or related fieldwork, while at least 1 – 2 years must be in a supervision of field ranger teams.
    • Computer Literacy. Please provide proof.
    • Drivers Licence (preferable code 10).
    • No criminal record. Police Clearance checks will be conducted.

    Responsibilities

    • Implement the Conservation Policy and Management plan for the park according to agreed operational plans as well as stipulations of relevant legislation.
    • Assists with coordination of law enforcement initiatives, gathering of information and area coverage to ensure territorial integrity.
    • Compliance to SOP; Firearm management, relevant protocols.
    • Assist in combating and controlling fires and execute burning policy as per delegation.
    • Follow legal, ethical, and safe procedures for apprehending suspects.
    • Facilitate water provisions.
    • Assist with Game Capture / culling and cropping.
    • Implement the utilisation policy and man- made structures processes and activities.
    • Participate in game counts / census.
    • Assist in managing the impact of degradation on cultural heritage resources and report accordingly.
    • Assist with the management of an area of a park/section.
    • Assist with the maintenance of resources such as man-made structures, processes, and activities.
    • Coordinate fire management plan in the section both as a tool for conservation purposes and risk mitigation.
    • Ensure the enforcement of good corporate governance and pro-active risk management.
    • Ensure that regulations, conditions, and procedures are adhered to by both staff and visitors.
    • Assist with access control, traffic flow and visitor management functions.
    • Ensure adherence to the safety and security plans for the park.
    • Coordinate the conservation and rehabilitation of indigenous marine and terrestrial biodiversity of the section, including assisting the Section Renger with planning and implementation of control of alien/extralimital species and monitoring of key functions and processes.
    • Capturing of field data electronically, incl. situational reporting.
    • Facilitate the maintenance of the park infrastructure, vehicles, and equipment (fences, roads, signage).
    • Monitor recording of activities in pocket and occurrence books.
    • Coordinate the management of equipment, vehicles, and firearms.
    • Participate in search-and-rescue operations when required.
    • Oversee overall maintenance of infrastructure – terrain, waterholes, equipment, tools, vehicle, vessels.
    • Compliance with OHS requirements and report accordingly.
    • Maintain a high standard of administration (log sheets, attendance registers, incident reports, pocketbooks, monthly reports, NECER reports, stock control in stores, etc.)

    Salary

    • R 409 290.00 – R 572 985.00 Per Annum
