    Technician: Foundry

    Purpose of Role:

    • The role involves setting up and reviewing of Bill of Materials (BOM), Monitoring and controlling foundry processes, ensuring metallurgical quality, conducting testing and providing technical support to production teams.

    Continuous Improvement:

    • Participate in continuous improvement projects targeting yield improvements, cost reduction and defect elimination. Implement improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce scrap, and improve product quality. Use simulation software (e.g., MAGMASOFT, AutoCAST) to model casting processes. Monitor and analyze production data to ensure process stability. Troubleshoot technical issues in casting and molding operations. Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability.

    Process Control and Operations:

    • Setting up and reviewing of BOMs. Assist in daily foundry operations. Support Sand system control. Defect investigation and problem solving. Provide feedback on best practices to minimize scrap and reworks.

    Adherence:

    • Maintain accurate records of tests, analysis and process parameters. Support quality documentation and heat treatment records. Prepare Technical reports on Metallurgical Investigations and Foundry trials.

    Quality & Compliance:

    • Ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications. Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for defects. Maintain documentation for all foundry processes and procedures

    Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

    • Minimum, National Diploma in Metallurgy
    • Minimum 3 years experience in a Foundry Operations
    • Strong understanding of Metallurgy , Heat treatment and Casting Processes
    • Hands-on experience with laboratory testing

    • Utilize Lean manufacturing tools such as Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to align operations with annual Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
    • Interpret technical drawings to identify and define processing requirements for manufactured components
    • Operations: Design and build interactive dashboards and business applications using Office 365 tools such as Power BI and PowerApps to enable data-driven decision-making.
    • Conduct time studies to determine optimal manning requirement and establish standard times for new and existing manufactured components.
    • Recommend layout improvements to enhance workflow efficiency and support continuous improvement initiatives.

    Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications: 

    • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering
    • Should be well versed with engineering calculations using excel

    Painter: Flood Coating

    Purpose of Role:

    • (To paint moulds and cores) 

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.
    • Painting: Painting of cores, copes and drags (Moulds). Prepare moulds, cores and repairs surface imperfections before painting. Burn off mould coat and dress off excess mould coat. Use baume to determine paint thickness and viscosity. Move moulds and cores to designated areas.
    • Operations: Clean flood coat machine and ensure general housekeeping around the area. Ensure that consumable stock items are maintained and report low stock levels to the Shift Leader. Stack items in allocated areas and in a safe manner. Achieve set production targets. Perform TPM checklists. Always adhere to Company policies and procedures, standard operating procedures and work instructions (SOPs and WI). Operate machines / equipment in accordance with safe work instructions. Always work according to efficiency standards.
    • Adherence: Identify any potential hazards and risks and report to the Shift Leaders. To adhere to required protective clothing rules and ensure appropriate PPE is worn at all times. Attend compulsory safe start / green are meetings at the beginning of every shift.

    Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications: 

    • Matric (Grade 12); or 12 to 24 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Valid driver’s license.
    • Valid forklift license.
    • Overhead crane license
