    Description

    • We’re on the lookout for a Fitter to perform maintenance and repairs on machinery and equipment to ensure optimum plant availability.    

    As a Fitter you will be responsible for: 

    • Maintenance, overhaul and repair of machinery and equipment
    • Fit, assemble, grind and shape metal parts and sub-assemblies to maintain production machines and other equipment 
    • Scope and plan work orders as required
    • Complete works orders
    • Adhere to all Engineering and Safety standards
    • Perform fault finding on equipment and participate in RCA's
    • Perform daily and weekly route and plant inspections; and report all defects
    • Maintain a high level of housekeeping

    What are we looking for?

    • Matric plus full N2 Mechanical Engineering Certificate (All 4 full subjects completed)
    • N3 Mechanical Engineering would be an advantage
    • Recognised Fitter Trade Test Certificate
    • Sappi Internal Artisan Development Program or Apprenticeship would be an advantage
    • 2 years post-apprenticeship experience in a heavy engineering/industrial environment
    • Valid driver’s licence would be an advantage
    • Rotable overhaul experience would be an advantage
    • Roll Fitting experience would be an advantage
    • SAP experience in a manufacturing industry would be an advantage
    • Excellent fault-finding and troubleshooting abilities
    • The ability to work under pressure while following all procedures and standards
    • Must be able to perform standby duties, and at times required to work overtime at short notice

    Shift Manager Fibre Line #3

    Description

    We are hiring!

    • We’re on the lookout for an Shift Manager Fibre Line #3 to maximize plant performance by aligning, guiding and co-ordinating the activities of the team to utilize the skills and experience of each team member to achieve targets in terms of production volumes, quality, uptime, safety, costs and staff development.
    • As an Shift Manager Fibre Line #3 you will be responsible for:

    OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE

    • Leads a shift-based team assigned to Fibreline 3 to ensure safe, stable, and efficient operations.
    • Plans and optimises plant operations to maximise utilisation of raw materials, energy, and manpower.
    • Executes production activities including start-ups, shutdowns, logs, trends, and operational checks to maintain quality and efficiency.

    PROCESS CONTROL & STABILITY

    • Assesses and manages abnormal plant conditions to ensure plant stability and minimise downtime.
    • Recommends maintenance, upgrades, and equipment replacements to improve production efficiency and reliability.

    ENGAGED AND DEVELOPED WORKFORCE

    • Coaches, mentors, and assesses team members against position profiles to improve performance.
    • Ensures effective implementation of on-the-job and off-the-job training activities.
    • Evaluates and manages team performance against objectives and behavioural standards.

    SAFETY, HEALTH & ENVIRONMENT (SHEQ)

    • Ensures full compliance with SHEQ requirements and corrects non-conformances.
    • Investigates incidents and ensures root cause analysis and corrective actions are implemented.
    • Maintains high housekeeping standards and ensures BBS observations are conducted as required.

    BUDGET AND COST CONTROL

    • Ensures adherence to annual budgets including fixed costs, overtime, manpower, and renewals.

    STAKEHOLDER AND CUSTOMER RELATIONS

    • Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders, suppliers, and customers.
    • Responds to feedback and implements corrective actions to support operational and customer requirements.

    What are we looking for?

    • BSc Chemical Engineering / BTech Chemical Engineering / BTech Pulp and Paper.
    • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in the Pulp and Paper industry.
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Dissolving Pulp operations.
    • Relevant Management qualification.
    • 2 years’ supervisory exposure.

    Analyst: Vibration

    Description

We are seeking unique people who believe in fostering a diverse and inclusive and safe environment.
    • We’re on the lookout for a Analyst: Vibration  to support engineering maintenance and operations personnel through acquisition and analysis of condition monitoring raw data and supply accurate information to maximize equipment reliability and plant availability  by utilizing vibration analysis, oil analysis and infra-red scanning including the performance of  laser alignment, balancing, material analysis and thickness testing.

    As Analyst: Vibration  , you will be responsible for:

    • Performing laser alignments on relevant equipment to within mill standards.
    • Performing infra-red scanning and analysis on equipment as and when required.
    • Performing vibration readings and analysis on equipment as per scheduled work orders
    • Performing ad hoc oil analysis as and when required.
    • Performing balancing on equipment as and when required
    • Responsible for the care and maintenance of Data Logger, Infra-red camera, laser alignment equipment and Bruker (material analysis machine)
    • Planning, prioritizing and delegating work on a daily basis
    • Responsible for maintaining all records, ie. Scheduled work, unscheduled work, breakdowns, month end reports, vibration analysis, cost savings report, failure analysis, root cause analysis etc.
    • Reporting of machinery conditions to the respective foreman and engineers in an on-going basis.
    • Responsible for setting up vibration databases by gathering accurate information from the plant, library and suppliers manuals pertaining to bearings, gears, roll diameters, pumps, gearboxes, motors, etc and maintain and develop master date for the entire mill on computerized system

    What are we looking for?

    • Matric Certificate and N6 / NQF Level  5 - 6 or equivalent
    • Mechanical/Instrument/Electrical Trade Test (Manpower/Seta accredited)
    • Valid Driver’s Licence
    • Minimum 5 years’ post apprentice experience in a heavy engineering industry
    • Completion of accredited vibration analysis course/s (Cat I or Vibration Analysis I)
    • Previous exposure to equivalent predictive diagnostic technology (advantageous).
    • Exposure to condition monitoring tools (advantageous)
