    Student Library Assistant

    Educational Requirement

    • Currently registered students from 3rd year and above

    Preference

    • Preference will be given to candidates that are registered for the Library & Information Studies and post-graduate programs.

    Knowledge

    • Computer library system (s) e.g. FOLIO, Symphony, etc

    Special Requirements

    • Availability during the after-hours including weekends.
    • Communication skills – verbal
    • Customer Service Orientation
    • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to respond constructively in a conflict situation.
    • Physical stamina and high level of mobility

    Summary of Duties

    • To assist with all circulation with all the circulation related duties
    • To assist with all the basic IT related queries.
    • To assist with the basic post-graduate information support queries and assist in the research commons.
    • To provide basic information services and directional queries
    • To do shelving and shelf-reading

    nGAP Lecturers X 2 (Analogue Electronics x 1) and (Digital Electronics x 1)

    Minimum Requirements: 

    • A Master's degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent
    • Undergraduate qualification specialization in Electronic Engineering, Analogue Electronics and Digital Electronics.
    • The successful candidate will be required to pursue doctoral studies within three months of appointment.

     Additional recommendations:

    • Teaching or tutoring experience i n Electronic Engineering
    • Competency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Proficiency i n English (verbal and written).
    • Ability to work independently
    • Good interpersonal, organisational and administrative skills
    • Experience in E-learning

    Lecturer, Photography

    Minimum Requirements:

     Lecturer

    • A completed Master’s degree in Photography or an appropriate associated field. (A PhD would be an advantage.)
    • A minimum of 3 years’ teaching experience at tertiary level, OR, 3 years’ experience in industry. (A portfolio is needed as evidence of industry work.)

     Additional Recommendations:

    • Comprehensive photographic studio experience is a pre-requisite.
    • Be able to create updated, contemporary and innovative content at degree and/or honours level. (Content would include new media platforms in line with 4IR).
    • Be able to teach Photographic Theory and Applied Photography at degree and/or honours level.
    • A combination of analogue (b/w darkroom processes) and digital photography.
    • Must register for doctoral study within three years of appointment.
    • Evidence of research or creative output activities (industry commissions if from industry).
    • Experience in teaching and learning technologies, including e-learning would be an advantage.
    • Experience in teaching English to second-language students.
    • Possess a working knowledge of post-production Photography software, such as Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
    • Possess a working knowledge of DSLR video/multimedia and Adobe Premier Pro.

     Summary of Duties:

     The successful candidate will be expected to:

    •  Register for a PhD within two years of appointment, if not in possession of a PhD.
    • Lecture in the Photography Programme at degree and/or honours level.
    • Set and mark tests, assignments and portfolios.
    • Develop new content/curriculum for the degree and/or honours qualification(s).
    • Engage in departmental administration duties.
    • Develop materials specific for online learners.
    • Participate in individual and/or programme research projects.
    • Attend meetings prescribed by the Head of Department.
    • Participate in DUT academic life and serve on at least one committee.
    • Undertake appropriate duties as assigned by the Programme Co-ordinator/Head of Department.
    • Conduct research and publish research outputs or produce creative research outputs.
