    Medical Technician - Pinelands

    Purpose of the Job

    • To process all blood requests and all related queries sufficiently and effectively and to perform other general duties as specified by the Manager - Blood Bank / Supervisor – Blood Bank.

    Requirements

    Job description

    • Perform Blood Bank technical procedures which include patient sample testing, preparation and issuing of blood products according to Work Instructions;
    • Check and reconcile patient information provided against the request form, prepared product, computer data and issue documents to ensure that the correct product is issued to the correct patient;
    • Co-ordinate processes with reference to communication, checks, queries, document control and record keeping;

    Minimum Requirements

    • Matric;
    • Medical Technician Qualification in Blood Transfusion;
    • Registered with HPCSA;
    • Computer literate;
    • Unendorsed Driving Licence will be advantageous
    • The working hours are variable, shift work is required with weekend work and call outs.

    A combination of the following skills, knowledge and attributes is required:

    • Good interpersonal skills
    • Have a friendly disposition and willingness to “go the extra mile”
    • Accuracy in data collection
    • Must be able to work as part of a team

    Responsibilities

    • Management and Administration of the Employee Self-Service System
    • Recruitment/Offboarding
    • Employee benefits administration (pension fund, medical aid, and gap cover)
    • Time and attendance system administration
    • HR Administration and reports

    Minimum Requirements

    • Matric Certificate
    • Degree in Human Resources
    • An unendorsed driver’s licence
    • 3 years experience in a Human Resources environment
    • Knowledge of computerised HR systems and databases
    • Computer literacy with Excel skills
    • Own reliable transport

    A combination of the following skills, knowledge, and attributes is required:

    • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple assignments and prioritize work
    • Detail-orientated, ability to show initiative and take responsibility
