    Senior Project Geochemist

    • Provide strategic and technical leadership for the acquisition, management, interpretation and integration of geochemical data across the Ivanhoe Group of Companies. Emphasis is placed on strata-bound, sediment-hosted copper systems, where subtle geochemical signatures and basin-scale processes are critical to exploration success. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with geoscience teams to ensure the extraction of high-value, relevant geochemical insights from both exploration and operational datasets, applying best practices in line with Ivanhoe’s organizational and corporate governance standards. The primary objective of this role is to enhance Ivanhoe’s capability to discover tier-one ore bodies using geochemistry workflows, particularly in areas under sand cover.

    Requirements:

    • BSc Honours Geology(NQF level 7)
    • MSc in Geochemistry
    • At least 8 years in geochemistry environment, with minimum of 3 years in exploration role
    • Experience in the full workflow of survey acquisition from design, contractor adjudication, acquisition management, QAQC, data review, analysis and interpretation
    • Experience of developing and mentoring geology teams in geochemical approaches
    • Sedimentary geochemistry approaches
    • Experience with a systems approach to Mineral Exploration
    • Experience working in a collaborative team of geoscientists.

    Minimum advanced skills and knowledge in:

    • Proficiency in geochemistry/geological software and tools, with analytical skills sufficient to analyse complex data sets.
    • Database Management (acQuire) of geochemistry data
    • Advanced ioGAS skills
    • Microsoft (PowerPoint, word, excel)
    • ESRI ARC Pro
    • 3D software for geological modelling (Seequent Leapfrog)
    • Significant knowledge of various geochemical techniques; theory and application

    Technical skills required: 

    • Good analytical skills, able to connect large-scale redox systems with localised sampling results.
    • Good communication skills - communicate clearly both verbally and written.
    • Cross functional abilities (Geochemistry-Geology-Geophysics collaboration)

    Document Controller

    • Under the leadership of the Group Document Control Manager, the Document Controller shall provide a ‘hands-on’ service ensuring that technical (i.e. engineering/design, consultant and contractor (vendor) deliverable documentation) and non-technical documentation (i.e. commercial, general (administrative), correspondence) received is correctly processed, registered, classified, managed, tracked, filed, distributed, retrieved and handed over (where applicable) in accordance with the approved Document Management processes and procedures.

    Requirements:

    • Grade 12 (Matric)
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a Document Controller in an Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) / technical environment.
    • Working understanding and experience in processing engineering (design) and vendor deliverables.
    • Experience using an Electronic Document Management System (EDMS).
    • Ability to understand and follow workflows, processes and standards.
    • Working knowledge and application of an EDMS, Microsoft Applications, Adobe Acrobat, electronic file management (Windows Explorer, WinZip, etc.)
    • Experience working within a team environment on large scale projects.
    • Experience in the mining environment.
    • Working understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) (desirable).

    Minimum advanced skills and knowledge in:

    • Document Control experience in a project environment of a technical nature.
    • Working understanding and application of Document Management and Control processes, procedures and systems and how these interrelate with other areas of project activity.
    • Good communication and people skills.
    • Good command of the English language, including vocabulary, correct grammatical usage, spelling and punctuation.
    • Communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
    • Able to follow and conform to procedures and processes.
    • Computer literate.
    • Proficient with MS Office Suite – Excel, Word, Outlook.

    Your Key Performance Activities will include but not limited to: 

    • Responsible for managing, processing and transmitting hard copy and electronic technical and non-technical deliverable documentation through general distributions as well as review and approval cycles from “Not Started” through to “Approved for Construction”, “Certified Final”, “Certified As-Built”, and (or) “Record Drawing” status, inclusive of a progressive turnover of deliverable documentation and final handover in accordance with standard Document Management procedures and processes.
    • Transmit and track distribution of documentation to bidders/tenderers, vendors, consultants, site contractors, other external parties, internal customers, etc.
    • Quality checking of all documentation received.
    • Handling queries in a timely and professional manner.
    • Achieve and maintain a high level of accuracy in capturing metadata in the EDMS.
    • Engineering/design and vendor data management
    • Ensuring a 24-hour turnaround time to process and distribute documentation.
    • Assist in setting up a hard copy filing system and maintaining master / wet signature hard copy files, e.g. original bond retentions, etc.
    • Identify and escalate processing and (or) system issues timeously to the Group Document Control Manager.
    • Allocate document/drawing numbers as required for documentation created and (or) received.
    • Provide support to corporate and project participants in the Document Control function, which could possibly extend to external parties such as vendors, consultants, etc.
    • Generate reports for design and vendor deliverables, transmittal distributions, general, etc.
    • Carry out administrative tasks such as printing, copying, filing, scanning, etc. as required of the function. 
    • Assist in progressive and final handover of deliverable documentation from EPCM to project and operations.
    • Assist in close-out and archiving of projects in the EDMS, and (or) corporate related documentation.
    • Maintain confidentiality of documentation.
    • Assist users in correct utilization of Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) as requested.
    • Ensure alignment between home office and site document controller(s).
    • Participate in other Document Management and Control related tasks as delegated by the Group Document Control Manager and (or) direct line manager / supervisor
    • Conform to SHEQ requirements in all environments (home, project and site offices).

    HRD LMS System Specialist (IVP-HRD-2612)

    Job Description

    • IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to   develop this “mine of the future”.
