    Developer II | Retail IT | Retail IT Operations

    Job Summary

    • We are looking for a detail-oriented developer with hands-on technical experience and a strong service mindset. The ideal candidate is comfortable in a fast-paced operations environment, responds calmly under pressure, and enjoys solving operational problems through automation, better tooling, and improved observability.
    • This is an opportunity to join Retail IT Operations — a team dedicated to improving stability. security, efficiency, observability, and resilience for Retail IT systems’ infrastructure. 
    • As a Developer, you will combine operational support with technical delivery. You will work independently on operational tasks, contribute to larger initiatives, and collaborate with feature/domain and infrastructure teams across IT.
    • The team is also investing heavily in observability maturity and resilience engineering so we are looking for someone who can grow with that direction.

    Job Responsibilities
    Production and environment support

    • Provide production and non-production support for Retail applications and infrastructure, including incident response, alert triage  and scheduled 24/7 standby for critical outages
    • Investigate issues, perform root-cause analysis, coordinate resolution across teams, and document outcomes and mitigations
    • Ensure development environments remain stable and available for Retail IT teams

    Change, release, and resilience

    • Participate in change management and support release deployments for Retail IT teams
    • Contribute to resilience engineering — disaster recovery/AZ failover, capacity and availability improvements

    Platform engineering and automation

    • Deliver infrastructure-as-code and automation solutions that reduce manual effort and improve consistency
    • Implement platform improvements across monitoring, alerting, observability, patching, vulnerability remediation, cost/stability, and environment engineering
    • Proactively reduce repeat support effort through better monitoring, alerts, automation, and process fixes
    • Adhere to data security and compliance with involvement and improvements in monthly database masking and restores

    Engineering quality, security, and knowledge

    • Contribute to code reviews and follow Retail IT engineering standards
    • Apply security considerations in design, implementation, and operational change — including patching and vulnerability remediation
    • Document runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge-base articles; support onboarding of new team members and maintain shared operational documentation
    • Participate in team ceremonies, contribute to the backlog, and collaborate professionally with dev/feature teams, infrastructure, vendors and other stakeholders

    Experience  

    • At least 2 years experience in IT operations, platform engineering, or software development with production support exposure
    • Practical experience with incident management and structured troubleshooting

    Infrastructure and platforms

    • Working knowledge of Linux and Windows servers, networking fundamentals, and common Retail IT infrastructure
    • Experience with SQL Server (queries and basic administration)
    • Familiarity with AWS, Terraform, Ansible, load-balancing, Kubernetes, microservices and distributed application architectures
    • Advantageous: understanding of system integration patterns, including RESTful services and RabbitMQ

    Observability and reliability

    • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools
    • Experience with metrics, logging, and tracing concepts; practical use of tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Opensearch, OpenTelemetry, Cloudwatch and PagerDuty
    • Interest in growing observability and SRE practices

    Automation and delivery

    • Ability to write and maintain scripts and automation (bash/powershell)
    • Experience with CI/CD pipeline concepts
    • Experience delivering operational or platform changes through repeatable, reviewable workflows

    Security

    • Awareness of secure configuration, patching, and vulnerability remediation in operational environments
    • Ability to consider security implications in infrastructure and automation work; familiarity with organisational security standards

    Specialist | Facilities Management | Office Team

    Role Purpose

    • The main purpose of this role is to provide comprehensive administrative systems, reporting, stock control, and travel-related support to the Administrative Manager. The role ensures accurate record keeping, effective systems coordination, timely reporting, and efficient administration to support the smooth operation of the Facilities Management department.

    Responsibilities

    • Coordinate internal function services to ensure a professional and seamless experience for clients and visitors, including venue setup, parking, security, and cleaning arrangements.
    • Manage company-approved long-stay apartment accommodation by coordinating monthly allocations, responding to business requests, liaising with service providers on availability, and optimising occupancy and costs. Communicate capacity updates, handle ad hoc and early arrival requests, guide employees on personal arrangements, and ensure billing accuracy and compliance with company policies.
    • Oversee ISM requests and incidents by distributing them appropriately, ensuring quality allocation, and monitoring response effectiveness. Compile and distribute weekly performance and statistics reports to relevant stakeholders.
    • Manage stock control processes by posting stock requests daily, ensuring accurate issuing of items, conducting monthly and ad hoc stock counts, and maintaining proper documentation to support audits.
    • Administer travel and accommodation processes by tracking agreements, producing usage reports, maintaining approved accommodation lists, verifying charges, sourcing accommodation where required, and ensuring invoices are processed accurately and timeously.
    • Support canteen operations by managing systems and processes, overseeing reporting, and acting as the liaison between the service provider and internal stakeholders.
    • Maintain department records by organising and filing facilities documentation, including technical drawings, compliance certificates, warranties, OHSE records, and service provider documentation to ensure audit readiness.
    • Produce and maintain departmental reports and dashboards, including grocery, cleaning, and technical consumption reports. Update evacuation system records, maintain communication lists, monitor vehicle usage reports, manage staff leave records, and compile monthly travel expenditure reports.
    • Provide daily operational support by maintaining the technical tool tracking system, coordinating resource bookings, and delivering general administrative support. Additional duties may be assigned as required.

    Key Skills and Competencies

    • Strong administrative and organisational skills with high attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong customer service orientation with a focus on professionalism. Solid reporting and data management capability with advanced Excel proficiency. Experience working with systems and dashboards, along with strong communication and coordination skills.

    Requirements

    • 3–5 years’ experience in an administrative, facilities, or operations support role
    • Experience in stock control or inventory administration (advantageous)
    • Experience coordinating travel and accommodation processes

    Education

    • Grade 12 / Matric required
    • Relevant administration or facilities support qualification (advantageous)

This team handles a wide variety of projects spanning feature enhancements, legislative changes, and technical enhancements and requires a wide breadth of Operations process knowledge to be successful in this role.     What will you be exposed to

    • Redesigning and implementing changes to drive efficiencies in operational processes, reduce risk and work on features to simplify our tech platform for the benefit of consultants. Many of our projects impact all operations departments and requires collaboration with multiple IT teams. 

    Job Responsibilities

    • Strong logical reasoning and attention to detail
    • Ability to engage confidently with stakeholders at any level. 
    • Proven ability to run multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Methodical approach to work
    • Problem solving skills.
    • Demonstrates the ability to deal with complexity.
    • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Planning, organizational and time management skills
    • Record of problem solving
    • Experience with SQL would be advantageous

    Education

    • Technology or Business Analyst qualification preferred.
    • Although no formal qualification in a technology field is required, successful candidates will have a strong interest in technology generally and financial services.
