    Repairs Specialist

    Main Purpose of the Job

    • The Repairs Specialist is responsible for supporting and training repair technicians in diagnosing, repairing, testing, and maintaining electronic equipment to ensure product quality and operational reliability. The role ensures repairs meet company standards while driving continuous improvement through repair data analysis, root cause identification, and process optimisation. The incumbent supports the Production and Repairs Manager by managing repair workflows, monitoring turnaround times, maintaining accurate records, and reporting on repairs performance and departmental progress.

    Education, experience and competencies

    • National Diploma in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field
    • Bachelor's degree (Advantage)
    • Minimum 3 years supervisory or senior technician experience in a manufacturing or electronics repair environment.
    • Proven experience in repairing electronic devices and systems.
    • Proficient in using diagnostic tools, soldering equipment, and other repair tools.

    Responsibilities

    • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair faults in electronic systems, components, and assemblies.
    • Perform soldering, component replacement, and testing to ensure repaired equipment meets quality standards.
    • Conduct preventative maintenance and testing of repair equipment.
    • Ensure repairs are completed within required turnaround times and prioritise urgent jobs when necessary.
    • Maintain accurate records of diagnostics, parts used, labour time, and repair outcomes.
    • Monitor work in progress (WIP) and support efficient repair workflow.
    • Assist with inventory control and identify recurring component failures or repair trends.
    • Communicate repair status and findings with internal teams and customers where required.
    • Collaborate with technicians and support training or guidance on complex repair issues.
    • Identify opportunities to improve repair processes while maintaining a clean, organised, and safe workspace.

    Embedded Electronic Engineer

    Main Purpose of the Job

    • Electronic Engineer with expertise in embedded systems programming to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electronics design and development, and embedded software engineering. This role involves designing, developing, and optimizing firmware and hardware solutions for cutting-edge projects in electronics.

    Education, experience and competencies

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering.
    • Minimum of 3 years' experience in electronic hardware and embedded firmware development.
    • Proficiency with RTOS and Linux-based embedded systems.
    • Proficiency in C/C++ and assembly for embedded programming.
    • Strong knowledge of microcontroller families (ARM Cortex, Microchip ,and STM32 essential).
    • Familiarity with PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, KiCad, Eagle) and electronic simulation tools.
    • Familiarity with communication protocols such (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, RS485 and Ethernet).
    • Experience with SDLC and Agile methodologies.
    • Experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other debugging tools.
    • Experience with version control tools like Git.
    • Proven experience working with embedded development on electronic systems using industry best practices.

    Responsibilities

    • Act as the main point of contact for product inquiries from internal teams and customers.
    • Design, program, and debug embedded systems, including microcontrollers, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and peripheral integration.
    • Collaborate on the design and testing of electronic circuits, PCBs, and prototyping for various applications.
    • Write and optimize MCU level firmware to ensure seamless hardware-software integration (Bootloaders, Hardware Abstraction, Device trees, Libraries, OTA etc.).
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product designers, mechanical and hardware engineers, to deliver high quality solutions.
    • Perform rigorous testing of firmware to ensure reliability, performance, and compliance with industry standards.
    • Troubleshoot complex issues in hardware and software during development and after deployment.
    • Create and maintain technical documentation including specifications, schematics, and user manuals.
    • Draft, review, update and approve all required documentation for ISO, ISERT, MASC and SANS certification
    • Support and maintain the development technical files.
    • Complete Risk Assessment for designed firmware.

    Technical Specialist

    Main Purpose of the Job

    • Booyco Electronics is seeking a Technical Specialist to provide expert technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of our electronic safety and control systems used in mining operations. This role ensures system reliability, compliance, and customer satisfaction while supporting account managers, technicians, and area teams.

    Education, experience and competencies

    • Qualified Artisan (Red Seal) in Electrical, Automotive Electrical, or related trade.
    • N6 / National Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. (Advantage)
    • 3–5 years’ technical experience in electronics/electrical systems (mining/heavy industry preferred).
    • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, reporting) with knowledge of ERP systems.
    • Strong understanding of electronics, wiring, and mining safety equipment.
    • Medically fit for site work, with strong English communication skills.
    • Valid Code 8/10 driver’s licence

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions for product failures.
    • Perform technical audits, diagnostics, and maintenance of Booyco systems.
    • Support installation and commissioning of new electronic systems.
    • Provide on-site and remote technical support to operations and clients.
    • Train and mentor technicians, operators, and end-users.
    • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and S21 specifications.
    • Maintain accurate technical reports, documentation, and records.

    Maintenance Technician

    Main Purpose of the Job

    • Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment and systems at the mine site, this role demands a strong technical background, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a challenging environment. The Field Services Technician will deliver high-quality customer service by ensuring the proper installation and maintenance of systems, guaranteeing their optimal operation.

    Education, experience and competencies

    • Qualified Artisan (Red Seal) Electrician or Automotive Electrician
    • 3-5 years of experience in electronic installations - Strong knowledge of electronic systems, including installation, maintenance, and repair.
    • Own Transport and valid driver's license (willing to travel and work overtime)
    • Medically fit to work on a mine (Underground and surface)

    Responsibilities

    Installation & Maintenance

    • Accurately install systems in line with technical specs and safety protocols, Conduct surveys and pre-install assessments
    • Perform routine maintenance and fault repairs
    • Ensure compliance with mine electrical/mechanical standards
    • Commission and test systems, educating clients on use

    Technical Support

    • Provide on-site troubleshooting
    • Assist in lab and field testing of new and existing systems

    System Optimisation

    • Monitor performance and suggest system enhancements
    • Work with engineering to upgrade products and processes

    Documentation & Reporting

    • Compile detailed service reports, COCs, audit records, and timesheets
    • Keep accurate records of technical work and client interactions

    Compliance & Safety

    • Adhere to safety and mine site protocols
    • Report hazards/incidents and maintain a clean, safe work environment
