    Fire Fighter/EMT

    Minimum Requirements: 

    • Grade 12/Matric at NQF level 4; 
    • Firefighter I; 
    • Hazmat Awareness; 
    • Basic Ambulance Course (BAC) / Basic Life Support (BLS); 
    • Code C1 License with valid PrDP; 
    • Valid HPCSA Registration; 
    • 0 years experience required; 
    • Physically fit; 
    • No Criminal Record.  

    Primary Function:

    • Responding to emergency incidents by performing firefighting, emergency medical services, and related operational tasks, including fire suppression, patient rescue, humanitarian assistance, hazardous material management, and specialized rescue operations such as aquatic, structural collapse, and confined space rescue. 

    Key Performance Areas: 

    • Combating Firefighting and rescue operations; 
    • Render emergency medical assistance; 
    • Training and supervising the utilization and maintenance of station resources; 
    • Handling of Hazardous Material Incidents; 
    • Minimise risk to the Community; 
    • Rendering an Urban Search and Rescue Service; 
    • Identify and deal with ethical issues and conflicts of interest.

    Tutor/Training Officer: Commercial

    Minimum Requirements: 

    • Grade 12/Matric Certificate or NQF level 4 equivalent; 
    • Diploma in Fire Technology (Fire Services) or Safety Management; 
    • Fire Fighter I & II, Hazmat Awareness and Operations ) IFSAC/QCTO/LGSETA/City of Johannesburg EMS approved); 
    • Basic Ambulance Assistant (BAA) with current HPCSA registration; 
    • Code C Driver’s license with a valid PrDP; 
    • Fire Service Instructor Level 1 (IFSAC/City of Johannesburg EMS); 
    • 6 years operational experience as a firefighter; 
    • Computer Literacy: MS Office.  

    Primary Function: 

    • Provide both the theoretical and practical training to our candidates in fire and hazmat, rescue and OHS Compliance training programmes.  

    Key Performance Areas: 

    • Assist with the development of the training courses and prepare for implementation; 
    • Management of resources; 
    • Promoting compliance with departmental policies; 
    • Supervise the utilisation and maintenance of station/academy resources; 
    • Plan, prepare and respond to emergency incidents anywhere and anytime as required; 
    • Take charge of the continual Professional Development Programs and oversee their management; 
    • Facilitate the training process, including class lectures, workplace experience, in-service practical experience and Hospital experience; 
    • Perform special operations; 
    • Promote EMS Management through public information campaigns, education and training and liaison with communities; 
    • Communicate health promotion actions effectively, using appropriate techniques and technologies for different individuals, groups and communities; 
    • Identify and deal with ethical issues and conflicts of interest.

    Librarian

    Minimum Requirements: 

    • 4-year Tertiary qualification in Library and Information Science/NQF level 7; 
    • 1 – 3 years’ public library experience; and 
    • Computer Literacy (MS Office, Internet, Outlook) and Library Systems.  

    Primary Function:

    • Render a people-oriented, efficient and professional Library and Information Service to the public. 

    Key Performance Areas: 

    • Render and supervise routine library operations. 
    • See that communications needed to operate effectively are taking place. 
    • Manage and control financial matters concerning the day-to-day operations. 
    • Supervise the staff and manage Library collections.

    Cashier/Cloakroom Attendant

    Minimum Requirements 

    • Grade 10 school certificate is required. 
    • Must be literate (Ability to add and subtract and read and write). 
    • Must be able to operate a cash register. 
    • 3 – 6 months’ Cashier and Cleaning experience and basic numeracy skills (collect and be able to calculate monies). 
    • Domiciled within the jurisdiction of the Johannesburg Metropolitan Area (Applicant must provide original proof of residence); 
    • Be physically fit and mentally fit; 
    • Be prepared to undergo vetting processes 

    Primary Function: 

    • Carry out cashier duties and control entry to the swimming pool, and carry out cleaning and cloakroom duties 

    Key Performance Areas:.

    • Ensure that patrons tender the appropriate fees prior to entering of swimming pools, with the monitoring, services and cleaning of the facility. 
    • Various Cashier and Cloakroom duties, which include, but are not limited to, ensuring that the appropriate entrance fees are tendered by patrons and entering the same on the cash register. 
    • Control entry to the swimming pool by preventing persons with infections and contagious diseases, and intoxicated persons from entering the premises. 
    • Issue swimming pool season tickets. 
    • Assists with the cleaning of the ticket office, change-rooms and cloakroom

    Internship: Food Value Chain

    Minimum Requirements: 

    • Grade 12/NQF level 4 plus a degree / diploma in Agriculture studies / development studies or equivalent; 
    • Only City of Joburg residents will be considered.  

    Primary Function:

    • Food value chain cover many areas of agriculture value adding, food processing, quality and food safety. Assist farmers to transform from primary agricultural practice into processed material from primary agriculture to final value-added product. The official/s will assist in development of training, SABS (south African Bureau of standard) standard and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) certification compliance. 

    Key Performance Areas: 

    • Implement activities that increase smallholder agricultural production and marker linkage; 
    • Identify and establish food / agricultural value chain opportunities within the City; 
    • Execute food value plans implementation plans that assist farmers with market; 
    • Coordinate and collaborate with local partners; 
    • Plan and support agricultural market days in the regions; 
    • Farmers / agro-processers.

    Internship: Youth Coordination

    Minimum Requirements: 

    • Grade 12/NQF level 4 plus BA degree Development Studies / Social Sciences (NQF level 7). 
    • Only City of Johannesburg residents will be considered.  

    Primary Function: 

    • Implement and facilitate Youth Development Programmes and administration of Youth Empowerment in order to ensure efficient and qualitative service delivery. 

    Key Learning Areas: 

    • Coordinate implementation of youth development programmes initiatives; 
    • Administer Youth Development Programmes; 
    • Provide administrative support in relation to the Unit and programme implementation;
