    Afrikaans FAL Teacher (Intermediate Phase) Curro Helderwyk

    What are we looking for?

    We are looking for someone with the following experience, qualifications and /or skillsets:

    • An appropriate academic and professional education qualification from a recognised institution.
    • 2 to 3 years experience in teaching Afrikaans FAL.
    • Current SACE registration.
    • IEB curriculum experience.
    • A clear criminal record.

    The responsibilities are:

    • Plan, control, record and report on assessments.
    • Attend meetings, forums, workshops for the grades/phase as required.
    • Create an educational atmosphere in the classroom.
    • Take responsibility for any and all school equipment and stock of the class.
    • Work closely with the teachers in the grades/phase to ensure the effective running of the grades/phase.

    What are we looking for?

    We are looking for someone with the following experience, qualifications and /or skillsets:

    • Grade 12.
    • BEd degree.
    • SACE Registered (provisional or conditional).
    • Tutor (teaching) experience.

    Advantageous

    • Motivator, someone who can encourage learners to test new theories and see the value of new products.

    Classroom management         

    • Manage the classroom environment and learners during the live lessons and tutorial lessons.
    • Ensure learners are locked into their live lessons and or Moodle course during tutorials.
    • Manage the Curro Choice headsets in the classroom.
    • Monitor and follow up on progress of learners according to progress reports from the tutor/teacher as well as the Power BI dashboard.
    • Assist with invigilation during tests/assessments.
    • Log service desk tickets in cases where connectivity and/or technical issues arise.
    • Discipline of learners.
    • Alert learners to deadlines and submission dates for assignments/tasks.

    Administrative duties

    • Attendance register.
    • Feedback to parents and school management on learner performance.
    • Receiving tests/assessments via email.
    • Print the tests/exams/assessments for learners to complete in accordance with the Curro Choice assessment schedule.
    • Scan and email completed tests/assessments/exams to the relevant Curro Choice teachers.
    • Communicate with Curro Choice teachers and tutors on the performance of the learners in the class.

    Head of Sport (High School) Curro Hillcrest

    The ideal candidate will hold the following:

    • SACE registered.
    • A relevant qualification in Education or Sports Management.
    • 4 to 5 years as a sport coach.
    • Experience in sports/event coordination is advantageous.
    • Holding a valid PDP and a willingness to drive school transport, where needed.

    The responsibilities are:

    Sports planning and administrations        

    • A willingness to support and mentor and be mentored.
    • Design and control of the Sport Budget.
    • The flexibility and willingness to work outside of normal school hours, when necessary.
    • The ability to lead a team and manage resources and processes.
    • Review and plan the coaching timetable for high school.
    • Create termly and annual sporting calendars.
    • Put fixture timetable together and communicate based on weekly planners.
    • Assign coaches to coaching activities and management of these coaches.
    • Manage communications to parents regarding sports activities.
    • Run and plan the sports awards process.
    • Ensure that day to day sport administrative duties are executed efficiently. This list includes, but is not limited to: fixtures, first aid, catering, set ups, transport, stock management, registers, team entries into leagues and tournaments.
    • Compile reports on sporting results and progress for the year. 

    Coaching of sports            

    • Ensure coaching staff continue to upskill themselves and remain relevant in their skill set through coaching clinics and collaboration with relevant professionals.
    • Coaching of current coaches.
    • Coaching in own sporting discipline.
    • Officiation at matches.  

    Physical education 

    • Teaching of PE lessons to grades 8 through 11.
    • Design cross sport talent identification and skills development.
    • Assist with the design of PE assessments and programmes.

     Sports events and tours      

    • Ensure that Curro Hillcrest host more sports tournaments and festivals, and the expectation is that the Head of Sport will attend and assist in these events, where needed.
    • Attend relevant tours, camps, and sporting events.
    • Assisting with the management of players in each sporting team.
    • Ensure timeous communication with all relevant role players.

    Staff Management   

    • Collaborate and manage the sports department.
    • Mentoring and management of coaches.
    • Management of disciplinary issues that arise from time to time.
    • Mediation between relevant parties in the event of issues.
