    Financial Accountant

    Job Requirements 

    Qualifications 

    • Grade 12 (Matric Certificate) .
    • Tertiary Qualification in Accounting/ Financial Sciences.
    • SAIPA, SAICA or CIMA Accreditation

    Experience 

    • At least 5 year’s proven work experience in Accounting.
    • A minimum of 2 year’s proven experience in a Senior Accounting Role.
    • Experience in the retail industry would be an advantage. 

    Knowledge Required 

    • Sound knowledge of Financial computer systems.
    • Established proficiency in Microsoft 365 office suite with an emphasis on MS Excel at an Advanced Level.
    • SAGE Evolution and Meat Matrix experience would be an advantage.

    Skills Required 

    • English Proficiency (read, write and speak).
    • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.
    • Proven statistical and analytical ability.
    • Good interpersonal skills.
    • Management and Leadership skills.
    • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Able to meet weekly deadlines and work efficiently, on own or as part of a team, in a highly pressurized environment.
    • Ability to prioritise work and very good organizational skills.

    Key Performance Areas 

    Month-end

    • Analysing sales trends and reporting on figures.
    • Monthly Balance sheets reconciliation.
    • Expense General Ledger checks and monthend journals including Payroll and Assets.
    • Analysing Inventory reports and reporting on figures.
    • Reporting to the Financial Manager (including but not limited to Trail Balance, Income Statements, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow).

    SARS

    • Tax Practitioners: VAT, PAYE and Income taxation calculations

    Banking

    • Bank Approvals on SAGE and FNB (payments and adding of beneficiaries).

    Cashflow 

    • Calculate and maintain monthly cashflow forecast.
    • Maintain weekly cash bank balances
    • Reporting weekly cash flow figures to the Financial Manager and CFO.

    Accounts Payable and Receivable Management

    • Review ageing analysis on a monthly basis and liase with customers and vendors.
    • Ensure that the Accounts Payable and Receivable team are adhering to daily tasks.
    • Ensure that the Accounts Payable and Receivable team are replying to all queries (internally and customer-related) and are dealt with accurately.
    • Motivating and leading the team in developing and following processes and efficiencies.
    • Ensuring deadlines are met at all times.

    Financial Audits 

    • Annual External Audits (Financial statement drafting & acting as Company liaison).

    Employee Management 

    • Employee Recruitment – Actively involved in all team appointments.
    • Onboarding and Finance Induction of new employees.
    • Supervise and provide input on training and development efforts.
    • Employee Relations (Discipline in the workplace).
    • Performance Management.
    • Employee wellness and motivation.

    Ad-Hoc

    • Monthly reporting on Financial performance of all Eskort Retail stores to Board of Directors and Retail Store Managers.
    • Return on investment calculations for current and future retail stores.
    • Assisting the Financial Manager with yearly budgets and board reporting figures.
    • Assisting the Group Retail Manager with board reporting figures.
    • Managing the implementation and maintenance of Company financial IT systems in Retail Stores (e.g SAGE Implementation, Point of Sale (POS).
    • Identifying procedural weakness in the day-to-day running of the retail stores and putting measures in place to rectify as and when needed.
    • Traveling to All Retail Stores for Audits and Risks Assessments.

    Senior Food Technologist

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Grade 12
    • Degree in Food Science/Food Technology or equivalent qualifications is required.

    EXPERIENCE:

    • 3-5 years’ experience performing similar duties or related position in the meat FMCG industry.

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

    • Basic Knowledge of FSCC2200.
    • Knowledge of relevant food related National Legislation.
    • Strong working knowledge of MS Office including Excel.
    • Project planning and management skills.
    • Ability to drive delivery and continuous improvement.
    • Pro-active and task oriented with the ability to adapt to change and make decisions under pressure.
    • Excellent analytical and data mining skills.
    • Food safety and good manufacturing practices

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: 

    • Ensure that food products meet required standards set by Eskort Pty Ltd, their customers and regulatory authorities.
    • Adhere hygiene standards and procedures.
    • Communicate to superiors any and all issues that occur immediately.
    • Develop new products according to set requirements, i.e. product, pack and cost.
    • Evaluate alternative raw materials for either cost reduction and/or product enhancement.
    • Regular contact and interaction with suppliers to stay abreast with the latest technology in ingredients, additives and packaging.
    • Work together with Top Management in maintaining the implemented systems as well as making sure that Products that are manufactured by Eskort Limited will not cause any harm to the consumer.
    • Maintain a hygienic and safe working environment with compliance to all statutory safety regulations.
    • Production Trials (60%) - Using and understanding the relevant equipment in the production process to manufacture a product and/or to assist the production employees to complete a specified product for trial purposes.
    • Technical Specifications (10%) – Compile and update product technical documents according to specified templates.
    • Product Evaluation Panels (15%) - Using sensory evaluation methods to test the outcome of performed product tests and to conclude product tests and projects.
    • Validation of product formulations and methods used on the production floor (15%) – Using floor recipes and process flows to verify and improve processes in production.
    • Perform all other duties assigned to you.
