    Actuarial Pricing Specialist

    Role Purpose    

    • The Structuring and Solutions team forms the key point of contact between the different segments and the technical support areas, focusing on client service and client solution development. This role forms part of a diverse team that includes experienced data scientists, actuarial analysts and qualified actuaries. This role will report into the Manager: Technical Pricing GGI.
    • This position will be to assist with pricing, product development and providing insights to the Guardrisk General Insurance (“GGI”) business. The GGI business is a strategic aspect of the Guardrisk Insurance business as it forms Guardrisk’s own risk-taking segment of the business. The role will providing technical support in the form of pricing, product review and development of new and existing business for this business.

    Requirements    

    • An Actuarial or bachelor’s degree with mathematics or statistics as majors.
    • Associate Actuary or making good progress with Associate level exams.
    • 2-4 years' relevant work experience.
    • Modelling experience.
    • Coding knowledge in SQL, Python and R advantageous.
    • Knowledge of insurance products, contracts and relevant industry legislations.
    • Sound numerical skills and computer literacy is essential especially in the use of MS Excel, MS Word and SQL.
    • Skills / Experience in data extraction would be advantageous.

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Take accountability for all product development and pricing frameworks.
    • Coordination with IT, underwriters, claims teams and product owners to develop holistic understandings of various products and processes within the space.
    • Support rate reviews and re-pricing exercises for the existing product suite to maintain technical soundness and market competitiveness.
    • Oversee the assessment and approval of new product offerings, ensuring they are commercially viable and compliant.
    • Review and ensure the accuracy of fellow team members' work.
    • Improve tools and processes that monitor the accuracy of policy values.
    • Investigate, quantify and explain any deviations and advise on corrective measures.
    • Ensure that all projects to be implemented adhere to audit and risk management requirements.
    • Collaboration with external business support to define and develop the pricing models and processes.
    • Support clients in the design and development of bespoke products, with a focus on innovation, profitability, and sustainability.
    • Manage financial performance reporting, including monitoring product profitability and adherence to best-practice actuarial standards.
    • Act as a technical advisor to both management and external stakeholders, translating complex actuarial insights into actionable business decisions.

    Senior Actuarial Specialist

    Role Purpose

    Requirements

    • Associate Actuary or making good progress with Fellowship level exams.
    • Successful completion of F103 (General Insurance Principles) or equivalent short-term insurance exam.
    • 5 years' relevant work experience.
    • Modelling experience.
    • Non-life pricing experience.
    • Coding knowledge in SQL, Python and R advantageous.
    • Knowledge of insurance products, contracts and relevant industry legislations.
    • Sound numerical skills and computer literacy is essential especially in the use of MS Excel, MS Word and SQL.
    • Exposure to the SAM capital regime.

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Take accountability for all product development and pricing frameworks, and structuring initiatives across the CRS and VUMA portfolios.
    • Lead rate reviews and re-pricing exercises for the existing product suite to maintain technical soundness and market competitiveness.
    • Oversee the assessment and approval of new product offerings, ensuring they are commercially viable and compliant.
    • Review and ensure the accuracy of fellow team members' work.
    • Provide guidance to junior actuarial analysts.
    • Partner with internal teams to structure new deals - providing actuarial input on optimal underwriting and capital structuring solutions tailored to client needs.
    • Investigate, quantify and explain any deviations and advise on corrective measures.
    • Ensure that all projects to be implemented adhere to audit and risk management requirements.
    • Collaboration with external business support to define and develop the pricing models and processes.
    • Support clients in the design and development of bespoke products, with a focus on innovation, profitability, and sustainability.

    FNOL Junior Claims Technician

    Role Purpose    

    • The FNOL Claims Consultant is responsible for registering new claims received from brokers,  appoint service providers within the SLA and authorize Fast Track Claims.  This role requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

    Requirements    
    Qualifications & Experience

    • High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
    • NQF Level 4 qualification in insurance

    Experience

    • 2 years of experience in customer service, insurance, or claims handling
    • Basic understanding of insurance policies, coverage, and claims processes is a plus

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    Claims Intake:

    • Receive new claims from the designated mailbox, claim to be registered within the SLA.
    • Validate cover and appointment of Service Providers is all the information is available at registrations stage.
    • Verify essential information, such as policy details, date and time of the incident, Incident Address, description of the loss, and contact information.
    • Authorize replacement / repairs on Fast Track claims within claims mandate.

    Data Entry and Documentation:

    • Accurately enter claim details into the Ski system.
    • Ensure all information is complete and consistent for further processing.

    Initial Assessment:

    • Appoint the relevant Service Provider on claims if all the information is available and cover is confirmed.
    • Identify potential red flags, such as fraudulent claims or coverage issues.

    Coordination:

    • Route claims to the appropriate claims technicians or departments based on the type and severity of the loss.
    • Collaborate with other teams, such as underwriting as needed.
    • Collaborate and follow up with service providers.

    Compliance:

    • Ensure all claims are handled in compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.

    Follow-Up:

    • Follow up with claimants to obtain missing information or documentation.

    Learnership

    Role Purpose    

    • What is a Learnership? A Learnership is a structured programme that provides an opportunity for you to gain theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the workplace. Our Learnership programme will enable you to obtain a Short Term and Long Term Insurance NQF Level 4 qualification which is INSETA and SAQA recognised. Being a part of our Learnerships opens you up to career paths such as Claims and Operations.     Non-Motor Liability Technician

    Role Purpose    

    • To manage a portfolio of liability claims and recoveries and to provide ad hoc technical advice to stakeholders.

    Requirements    
    Formal Education:

    • Matric/Grade 12
    • A law degree – preferable but not mandatory, subject to experience in Short-term insurance environment    
    • 60 FAIS Credits     
    • Computer literacy(MS Word, Outlook and Excel)  
    • Insurance qualification preferable   
    • RE qualification 

    Experience:

    • Minimum 5 years experience, some of which should be in a legal practice environment or insurance liability environment
    • Intensive knowledge of liability claims and resulting litigation 
    • Knowledge in administering and handling liability claims

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Day to day reporting to the Team Leader
    • Handling liability claims in accordance with claims handling procedures
    • Facilitating and managing outsourced liability claims
    • Handling and settling claims within stipulated time frames and as per SLAs / mandates in place
    • Entering into settlement negotiations with third parties / third party representatives
    • Negotiating with assessors, attorneys, other service providers
    • Providing technical advice on litigated matters
    • Providing clients / brokers with the highest standard of service
    • Providing clients / brokers with feedback on claims progress at all times
    • Ensuring diary system is implemented and adhered to at all times
    • Ensuring adherence to SLAs / mandates in place with regards to claims from mandated brokers
    • Rendering of assistance from time to time with ad hoc tasks
