    Mine Overseer

    Job description

    The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

    • Supervise and lead underground crews to achieve production and quality targets to project scope
    • Effective control, planning and organising for safe achievement of production targets in line with contractual requirements
    • Effective operational management in line with legal requirements
    • Accurate, timely, relevant reporting and administration
    • Effective risk management and compliance with MHSA, SHEQ, M&RC and client requirements
    • Effective stakeholder engagement to ensure smooth workflows
    • Effective self and team management and alignment with M&RC values and leadership initiatives
    • Achieving operational targets and comply with legal regulations of DMRE, Client and M&RC’s.

    Minimum requirements

    • Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
    • Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF Level 4)
    • Mine Overseers' Certificate of Competency.
    • Blasting Certificate
    • Valid EB Driver's Licence
    • Valid First Aid certificate
    • MS Office Proficient (Word and Excel)
    • Excellent planning, organizing and monitoring skills.
    • Leadership and management skills.

    Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

    • At least 5 years of experience as a Production Mine Overseer and sound knowledge of large excavation development.
    • At least 1 years acting as a Mine Overseer
    • Experience working with unstable ground conditions, and experience in long anchors, wet-crete and concrete work
    • Experience managing a fleet of fully mechanised equipment and the relevant machine appreciation aspects.
    • Experience in managing the work of subcontractors in a mining / underground environment.

    Shift Supervisor Diamond Drilling - Carltonville

    Job description

    The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:       

    • Effective supervision of the diamond drilling crews
    • Effective planning, leading, organising and control within area of responsibility to achieve daily production, quality and safety targets
    • Cost containment through effective budget management and efficient target achievement
    • Effective stakeholder engagement to ensure smooth workflows and target achievement
    • Efficient achievement of production and quality targets in line with DMR and project scope
    • Proactive risk identification and mitigation in alignment with legal regulations, the client's and M&RC's standards, procedures and policies
    • Effective self and team management in alignment with M&RC's values and leadership initiatives

    Minimum requirements

    Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

    • Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent
    • Diamond Drill Technical Skills Certificate or similar
    • Blasting Certificate of Competency / Trade Certificate / Technical Diploma / Project Management Certificate (preferred)
    • Possess either a recognised Shift Supervisor Certificate (includes Planning, Leading, Organising and Control) or a Supervisory Skills Certificate
    • Competent A & B Certificates
    • Valid EB Driver’s license
    • Good English verbal and written communication skills

    Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

    • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Chargehand Diamond Drilling
    • Exposure acting as a Shift Supervisor Diamond Drilling (advantageous)
    • Experience conducting baseline risk assessments [essential]
    • In-depth knowledge of diamond drilling operations, equipment and methods
