Your responsibilities

All our Young Talent Programs are based on the 70:20:10 Model of Learning and Development which is

• Hands-on (70%)

• Classroom (10%),
• We also understand that the world of work has changed and will continue to change and to keep with the pace and progress within the organization, you will need more than just Hard Skills (Technical), hence, during your time at ABB South Africa we will equip you with Soft Skills that will enable you to connect, create your identity and promote yourself in any working environment. In addition to formally learning about our products through our online Learning Management System and our face-to face classroom training (10%), you will spend most of your time working with our actual products and systems (70%), and also be exposed to industry experts and leaders who will be available to answer your questions and provide you with career guidance (20%).
• For the 2023 Intake, we are looking for graduates in the following areas:

Graduate in Training:

• Corporate Marketing and Communication Function: You will work in a department that does all our corporate branding, communications, and events.
• Supply Chain Management or Logistics: You will work in a department that handles our Transport, Trade, and Logistics and Supply Chain Management,
• Finance or Accounting: You will work in a department that does our business controlling and Accounts Payables.
• Occupational Health & Safety: You will work in a department the does all our health and safety campaigns and ensuring that ABB is a safe working environment.
• Information Technology or Information Systems: You will work in the IT department and manage the processes from end to end.

Engineer in Training:

• Electrical Engineering: You will get exposure to the Testing of Switchgear on all areas; Primary, Secondary, Modular and commissioning, you will also be exposed to working with electrical and mechanical designs for switchgears.
• Mechanical Engineering: You will get exposure to basic design, draughting, electrical and mechanical workings of Electrical Motors.
• Control and Instrumentation: Exposure includes working with Control Systems, Field Instrumentation and Actuators. And the Design and Commissioning of Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
• Industrial Engineering: You will get exposure and learning from our Factory Operations, Time Studies and Process Improvements.
• Computer Engineering: Exposure across the business to drive the development and promotion of the 4th Industrial Revolution - ABB Ability.

Your background

• Engineering Trainee Program Qualification:
• Degree to National Diploma Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Mechatronics)
• P1 & P2 Electrical Control and Instrumentation
• Degree to Diploma Health & Safety & Environmental Management
• Degree to Diploma in Finance/ Accounting
• Degree to Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management
• Degree in Information Technology
• Degree to Diploma in Business Administration
• Do take note that as part of the program you might be required to travel to customers for sales, service or commissioning work

Your responsibilities

• Performing analysis and reporting for all telephony services
• Administration related activities
• Maintaining a high degree of customer service when responding to telephony support issues
• Logging and updating of support tickets through to final completion
• Taking ownership of support issues and seek closure ensuring all relevant support procedures are followed
• Demonstrating ability to take a broad view of his/her position and take initiative to communicate, interact and cooperate with others

Your background

• Grade 12 Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
• Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience in Accounting and Analytical skills.
• 2 Years’ experience in Administration
• Advanced Excel, SAP , strong analytical, reporting skills and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization, across multiple time zones, technical and non-technical audiences, to convey IT information and processes in a clear and concise fashion.
• Preference will be given to EE candidates.

Your responsibilities

• Performing basic survey work, standard computations, analysis and basic design tasks, collecting data and supporting production of the engineering design, exercising judgment on limited details of work and on application of standard methods
• Preparing project documentation within one’s scope of deliverables, assisting customers on technical issues, interacting with official contacts, contractors and other staff within his/her scope of deliverables, assisting communication pertaining to specific assignments or meetings
• Participating in workshops pertaining to engineering design, tools and processes, learning from best practices / lessons-learned documentation across different projects and disciplines, using standard processes and tools applicable to one’s area of responsibility
• Reporting process and tool inefficiencies, along with suggesting ideas for improvement, supporting technical risk assessments and implementing resulting actions for one’s projects, ensuring Bill of Material (BOM) for the project meets contractual obligations
• Following work plans and cost estimates provided by the Project Manager and ensuring quality deliverables on time and at targeted cost, collaborating with the supply chain function and the Project Manager(s) to meet the contractual obligations
• Coordinating with manufacturing and testing functions to ensure the technical solutions are appropriately manufactured/ staged and tested, updating the engineering deliverables as-built
• Coordinating with commissioning / service functions to ensure the designs are appropriately installed and commissioned, updating the engineering deliverables post installation & commissioning.

Your background

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering Heavy current
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Eplan P8 and CAD, All Microsoft programs especially Excel and SAP experience will be an advantage
• Protection Relay programming will be an advantage, site commissioning on MV & LV switchgear will be an advantage

Your responsibilities

• Proposing and managing the annual transportation budget, operating within approved budget, optimizing resources and determining actions to address cost issues
• Continuously improving operations, optimizing transportation process, managing the forwarder (Express Lanes only) selection process, collaborating with the Forwarders and Customs Brokers for promoting and implementing continuous improvement initiatives
• Reviewing and managing transport planner and related functions and forwarders/customs broker KPIs and follow-up with process improvement plans, validating KPIs issued by forwarders and customs brokers along with the cost associated to their service
• Ensuring compliance to company procedures and policies within trade and transportation, setting up relevant control mechanisms and documents (loaded on SAP GTS & Share Point)
• Responsible for forwarders and customs brokers management and service, managing forwarder weekly performance and cost, acting to ensure respect of associated KPIs and service level agreements
• Collaborating with transportation forwarders and customs brokers to negotiate contracts and service level agreements, ensuring compliance of shipping with all local and global regulations (using SAP GTS, whilst optimizing the distribution network and customs procedures and taking full advantage of possible free trade benefits
• Working closely with transport partners on resolving issues and providing direction, weekly follow – up with Vendor & GBS to ensure that the accounts payable is in Control, following up with vendors to ensure that POD’s are received
• Developing an effective relation with internal (Transport Planning) and external stakeholders (forwarders & customs brokers) and motivating, organizing and encouraging teamwork within the workforce to ensure that productivity and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) targets are met
• Ensuring that group and local health, safety and environmental guidelines and directives are implemented and understood to ensure safety of people and resources

Your background

• Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics Management
• Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience in SAP GTS
• Should be hardworking, committed and dedicated

Your responsibilities

• Reporting HSE incidents, giving feedbacks on lessons learned and best practice from own unit and across ABB to management and employees, reporting progress on implementation of ABB Group HSE and sustainability objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) to ABB Group, as required
• Ensuring area of responsibility is audited according to program for audit, assisting line managers and supervisors in understanding obligations, liability and how to fulfil their roles, according to local HSE law and ABB Group policy, instructions and standards
• Facilitating HSE risks assessment by line management involving shop floor employees, i.e., those directly concerned by the hazards and ensuring all processes are implemented, driving behavioral change through implementing group-wide performance improvement programs and practicing locally to ensure an exemplary health and safety culture as well as a strong focus on environment throughout the respective organization
• Engaging external (e.g., customers, suppliers and other stakeholders) and internal stakeholders in order to report on, raising awareness and gaining commitment on ABB's HSE efforts and performance and obtaining objective feedback
• Cooperating with other functions, the CoE and business partners to drive HSE/SA performance, ensuring appropriate safety equipment and tools are available and used, identifying, planning and initiating training need, e.g., for employees, site managers, and agree with and ensuring delivery of training from the CoE
• Driving and ensuring compliance with group management systems (e.g., ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001), contributing to and/or planning and executing HSE, sustainability and corporate responsibility (CR) related projects
• Developing and reporting on project objectives, managing project resources such as manpower, financials and other relevant factors, planning, executing, supervising and reporting on sustainability initiatives, performance and progress on the implementation of ABB Group sustainability objectives and KPIs (key performance indicators) for the ABB Group, as required

Your background

• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in relevant field
• Experience in internal trade and compliance and should have HSE background
• Fluency in English language is mandatory
