    Chief of Staff

    • We are looking for a Chief of Staff to join our leadership group; as we scale up and drive digital and financial inclusion across our markets.
    • As Chief of Staff you will report directly to the CEO and will be responsible for supporting and acting on behalf of the CEO on core strategic and operational projects across the business. Working closely with the CEO and senior executive team, you will be a key member of M-KOPA management.

    About this role;

    • Problem-solving thought-partner
    • Acting as a thought partner, strategic advisor and confidant to the CEO and leadership team
    • Providing a wide-ranging and critical viewpoint, analysis and recommendations so that effective decisions can be taken by the CEO and broader leadership team
    • Setting company strategy and objectives
    • Facilitating effective strategy meetings for the leadership team, and working hand-in-hand with the leadership team in the development and prioritisation of the company’s strategic plans and initiatives
    • Championing the company’s vision and strategy, and creating the culture and momentum to deliver the agreed goals
    • Spearheading special projects: managing and leading early-stage or high priority strategic projects that are prioritised by the senior executive team and CEO. The intention is to incubate new projects that can then be transitioned to permanent owners once they have been set up for success
    • Supporting the CEO with overall company and stakeholder management
    • Acting as an integrator who provides two-way communication channels between less senior staff members and the CEO’s office/leadership team, and connects work streams to ensure that none get siloed

    Legal and Compliance Counsel

    • We are looking for a Legal and Compliance Counsel to join our Legal group; as we scale up and drive digital and financial inclusion across our markets.
    • The main purpose of the jobholder is to provide commercial, legal and compliance advice to M-KOPA's
    • South African operations, while also supporting the M-KOPA Group's broader legal and compliance functions.

    In this role you will be responsible for the following;

    • Giving accurate and timely counsel to the business in a variety of legal topics including regulations, licensing, compliance, labor law, corporate transactions, commercial matters, data privacy, intellectual property among others.
    • Providing day to day advice on data privacy matters as well as supporting M-KOPA’s data protection team to implement broader strategic initiatives, conduct data privacy audits, support the Company’s record of processing activities, conducting privacy impact and similar assessments, in addition to implementing new initiatives.
    • You'll be helping manage disputes and court cases. Anticipating and managing legal and compliance risks connected with or resulting from the company's business strategy and operations. Monitoring changes in relevant legal and regulatory environment and taking appropriate action including overseeing the systems/processes that ensure the Group complies with all applicable regulations.

    Expertise required for this role;

    • LL.B degree in Law with extensive post qualification experience, ideally in a regional or international law firm, or as in-house counsel in financial services, consumer lending, or financial technology companies.
    • Strong team player who can work under pressure in a fast paced, dynamic environment with the ability to adapt to change.
    • Must be admitted an Attorney in South Africa.
    • Strong legal experience with a mixture of exposure to corporate, commercial, disputes, compliance and data privacy matters. Experience specifically with the National Credit Act/National Credit Regulations a plus.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills with a strong English command.

    Senior Analytics Engineer

    • We are looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer to join our Analytics Department; as we scale up and drive digital and financial inclusion across our markets.
    • As a Senior Analytics Engineer, your day-to-day work will include building easy to understand and consistently modelled datasets to serve metrics, dashboards and exploratory analysis; including building data transformation pipelines, primarily by using SQL and Python in dbt, and Airflow infrastructure.
    • You will collaborate primarily with cross-functional product and engineering teams with some additional internal business units to gather requirements, understand business needs, and deliver data-driven recommendations.
    • For us applying best practices is important in order to build reliable, well tested, efficient, documented data assets.

    Expertise

    • Our expectation is that you have extensive experience with Python, Java and proficiency in SQL.
