• The primary purpose of the Plant Manager will be to develop, integrate and drive the operations strategy to ensure the delivery of overall business objectives.
• The Plant Manager will take accountability for technical aspects of manufacturing within Insulation and on a national basis leading the teams across these divisions to deliver continuous improvement in processes and procedures.

• Validate the WCM structure and resources and ensure alignment to the delivery of the WCM objectives.
• Assess plant employees WCM capability and ensure alignment to the delivery of the WCM objectives.
• Train and develop plant employees in line with identified gaps in capability and required succession plan.
• Ensure the WCM programme is closing the gaps to ensure the delivery of the required level of Customer Service.
• Deliver the Plant annual improvement plan using defined WCM methodologies ensuring the target of 3% total cost reduction is achieved.
• Manage the WCM cost in line with the annual budget.
• Define the plant WCM Long Range Plan (3 year).
• Develop the WCM Route Map and ensure it is adhered to (5 year).
• Define and maintain the WCM annual plan consisting of major events, people development and improvement projects.
• Provide Benchmarking Analysis and trend improvement opportunities.
• Drive meeting effectiveness, visual management and application of problem solving tools.

• Ensure smooth and efficient maintenance operation of Brakpan Fiber Cement factory.
• Perform other tasks as specified by the Plant Manager.
• Ensure that both he and his subordinates obey general safety, environment and security regulations.
• Ensure that both he and his subordinates obey safety regulations and observe safety precautions as laid down in the Machinery and Occupational Safety Act.
• Ensure good maintenance standards to minimise down time and cost.
• Improve and maintain effective human resources.
• Maintain workplace in a clean and workable condition.
• Appointed as GMR 2 according to the OSH act
• WCM implementation and Management
• Manage and forecast the plant maintenance budget within agreed limits.
• Liaise with authorities on service supply issues of water and electricity. Ensure back-up supply availability where possible.

Is this job for you ?

• Tertiary qualification in engineering or related fields: B-Tech/HND or Bach Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• In possession of Government Certificate of Competence (Factories or Mines) Mechanical/Electrical

• To establish, implement, control and manage all ISO management systems and Saint-Gobain Health, Safety & Environmental standards at the Cape Town Parow factory.
• Develop the safety culture. Analyse the outputs from contributions to safety/environmental submissions and develop action plans to address shortfalls.
• Ensure hazards are identified, risk assessments are completed and risk reduction initiatives are executed to mitigate or eliminate the hazards.
• Ensure that employees are upskilled in hazard identification to prevent incidents, accidents and injuries.
• Ensure that incidents are reported, investigated, documented within accepted time frames and prevented.
• Use WCM toolset in daily activities and in maintenance & driving of the Safety & Environmental Pillars.

Is this job for you ?

• The ideal candidate must have a ND: Relevant qualification in Safety/Health/Environment (NEBOSH, National Diploma) with SAMTRAC or equivalent with min 5 years relevant experience ideally in a manufacturing  environment. ISO 9001/14001/45001 – Internal Auditing and Environmental Law Course – covering NEMA and relevant Environmental Acts (Pref). This role calls for a person with the ability to interact with all role players, customers, and ISO/WCM Auditors at all levels, good communication skills and Interpersonal skills.
