Purpose of Position:

• To provide a diagnostic anatomical pathology / histopathology consultative service to referring clinicians.
• Assist in the management and supervision of the daily activities of the anatomical pathology laboratories.

• Advise Clients on life threatening results, Continuous Education for Pathology laboratories,

• Oversee the standard of the work performed, overall operation and administration in the laboratory,
• Promotion of Professional Standards and Expertise,
• Provision of Continuous Pathology/Clinical Laboratory Service: Consultation with doctors, Control and monitoring of results, Result verification, Reporting,
• Participation in Peer Group, Sign-out all abnormal results according to criteria

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with the development and evaluation of new assays when required,
• Perform accreditation and Quality Control related tasks to ensure standards are upheld,
• Perform general tasks in order to ensure that best practice is upheld within the laboratory,
• Perform Materials Management related tasks in order to ensure effective control over stock and to ensure sufficient stock levels at all times,
•  Perform receiving and resulting tasks on the Meditech system in order to ensure correct handling, preparing and recording of specimen and results
