    Finance Analyst: Reporting

    Key Performance Objectives

    Support Finance and General Accounting operations and External Reporting

    Month end

    • Synergy month end procedures
    • Responsible for providing financial data and calculations to Shared Services to process accounting entries (i.e. for investments, fixed asset valuations, product costing, hedge accounting, devaluation journals, monthly accruals and provisions etc.)
    • Responsible for ensuring that the accounting records correctly reflect the financial results

    Annual

    • Responsible for reviewing the fixed asset register including annual useful life estimations
    • Responsible for monitoring the preparation of the stock forecast and reviewing stock take reconciliations
    • Responsible for notes and commentary for external and statutory reporting
    • Responsible for preparing the BEE scorecard for the entity

    Ad Hoc

    • Responsible for the approval of purchase requisitions per the Delegation of Authority
    • Consult with Shared Services Central Accounting team to resolve Intercompany Disputes
    • Responsible for preparing information that will be sent to the Regulators
    • Consult with the Shared Services Central Accounting team to prepare for internal and statutory audits

    Perform Financial Planning and Analysis

    • Facilitate the budget and forecast process for the Business Unit
    • Consolidate and report on Budgets and Forecasts
    • Consolidate 24 month Treasury cash flow forecasts
    • Consolidate 24 month rolling forecasts of Income Statement and Cash flow statement
    • Proactively partner with the business to identify and evaluate opportunities to improve performance and ensure that change initiatives are implemented
    • Prepare monthly reporting pack (including financial performance and variance analyses against plans, forecasts and regional objectives)
    • Work with corporate BI team to set up and further improve reporting for the business unit

    Qualifications

    • Must be a CA (SA)

    Experience / Skills

    • Minimum 2 years post article relevant experience in a similar role
    • Sound knowledge of IFRS and Taxation rules
    • SAP system experience
    • Advanced excel skills

    Senior Engineer: Decoder Workflow SI Lead

    Key Performance Objectives

    Governance and Compliance

    • Ensure enforcement of the Company processes and policies with team members
    • Adherence to the milestone driven hybrid process & policies applicable to the Decoder Development team.
    • Develop, enhance & enforce development processes & policies with team members and 3rd party software component vendors.

    Operational Delivery

    • Individually responsible for delivering on project requirements, system and sub-system software integration of enterprise-wide headend software solutions using internally created and/or off the shelf components.

    Qualifications

    Experience and Technical Competencies

    Required Experience of:

    • 8+ years of experience in E2E satellite network operations managing backend operations for decoder platforms.
    • 4+ years of experience in operator components integration and technologies (including STB), working through the design, development, testing, release cycle and software delivery.
    • Leadership / management experience
    • Experience of performance management and driving team efficiencies
    • Knowledge of employee relationship regulations/laws
    • Knowledge of industry wide best practices of processes, integration techniques and tools for embedded platforms and backend systems.
    • Experience in Web technologies and scripting languages
    • Experience in database design and management tools
    • Sufficient knowledge of security & software compliances regulatory requirements
    • Sufficient experience with IT infrastructure and networking

    Senior Architect Decoder UI Development

    Key Performance Objectives

    Operational Delivery:

    • Participates in pre-product discussions with stakeholders
    • Suggests product requirements for existing technologies
    • Contributes to product proposals
    • Writes and maintains technical requirements specifications (functional, non-functional)
    • Reviews requirements specifications

    Qualifications

    • B.Sc (Electronic and/or Computer Engineering) or similar qualification.
    • Postgraduate or PhD in the fields of Software or Hardware Engineering (optional).  
    • Relevant industry wide patents preferred.
    • TOGAF certification preferable.

    Experience

    • Typically, 12+ years of appropriate experience in embedded software design/development, preferably STB.
    • Excellent hands-on experience with Architecting and Designing for Embedded Devices. 
    • Strong knowledge of embedded software development, integration, debugging/troubleshooting, testing, configuration, support and maintenance processes with multiple vendor components.
    • Strong knowledge of core Java language.
    • Strong knowledge of Web technologies (e.g. WS, RESTful, etc.) and scripting languages (e.g. HTML, Javascript, CSS etc.)
    • Strong knowledge networking technologies, protocols such as - HTTP, WS, FTP, UDP, UPnP, RTSP, RTP.
    • Strong knowledge of embedded hardware systems, real-time & Linux operating systems.
    • Strong knowledge of Database Design and Management tools (SQLite, etc.).
    • Strong experience in Systems Design Methodologies (UML and other Modelling Techniques).
    • Experience in Mentoring and Leading Technical Design Teams and good with Whitepapers and Technical presentations
    • Exposure to various SDLC methodologies like Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid, DevOps etc.
    • Nice to have knowledge of embedded C/C++ languages.

    Accountant: Central Accounting

    Key Performance Objectives   Controls, Governance & Policies

    • Responsible for the development/creation, implementation and maintenance of system of robust controls, procedures and policies
    • Responsible for monitoring compliance to accounting policies
    • Support the Finance Shared Services Innovation team in governance initiatives
    • Ensure compliance to policies, internal control and external audit
    • Support internal audit, ensure that any findings are resolved
    • Assist in improvement and development of processes and systems for accounting purposes

    Year End Activities

    • Preparation and building of Annual Financial Statements, Interim financial statements and disclosures that comply with IFRS

    • Prepare audit schedules relating to Intercompany, Agencies, Franchises and Joint

    Recording and Maintaining Accurate and Complete Accounting Records

    • Create and monitor a system of controls and procedures for the recording of Intercompany, Agencies, Franchises and Joint Venture, Hedge and Tax Accounting transactions
    • Recommend to management any updates to accounting policies related to Intercompany, Agencies, Franchises and Joint Venture, Hedging and Tax
    • Responsible for General Ledger Master Data Management relating to Accounts and Cost/Profit Centres
    • Responsible to set-up Allocation Keys for Related Party Intercompany Charges in the System
    • Responsible for the Processing of the Intercompany, Agencies, Franchises and Joint Venture, Hedging and Tax journals
    • Reconcile the balance in the Intercompany, Agencies, Franchises and Joint Venture, Hedging and Tax subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger
    • Consulting with the Tax Team on applicable matters related to Intercompany, Agencies, Franchises and Joint Venture and Hedge Accounting

    • Responsible for Balance Confirmation of Intercompany, Joint Venture Agencies & Franchises Accounts
    • Responsible for uploading to HFM of Actuals
    • Responsible for preparation Standard Reporting in the form of Income Statements, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and Supporting Notes and Consolidations for all subsidiaries and joint ventures of the NVE Segment on a Monthly and Annual basis
    • Venture, Hedge and Tax Accounting, and assist the auditors in their inquiries
    • Analysis of trial balance, explanation / commentary for movements compared to previous months
    • Responsible for preparation of balance sheet reconciliations
    • Analysis of income statement accounts
    • Review of processes, identification and implementation of efficiencies
    • Support the Finance Shared Services Innovation team in process efficiencies
    • Analysis of expense accounts for tax submission to SARS
    • Liaising with Head of Finance and Financial Accountant and resolving management accounting queries
    • Standardisation of Chart of Accountants and drive correct classification of GL accounts across the business

    Qualifications

    • BCom in Accounting (Honours)

    Experience / Skills

    • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in a similar role
    • Sound knowledge of IFRS and Taxation rules
    • SAP system experience
    • Hyperion Financial Management
    • Advanced excel skills
    • Intercompany accounting experience would be advantageous
