    Description

    Key responsibilities

    • Competent with the use of hand tools.
    • Good spatial recognition.
    • Technically strong and follows mechanical repair, and construction standards and methods as specified in technical studies and as required in Trade Test.
    • Basic rigging.
    • Fault finding and problem solving skills.
    • Applies knowledge obtained during training to all tasks.
    • Can assess the safety risks associated with the work.

    Safety and Housekeeping

    • Ensure compliance with the requirements of Safety, Health and Environmental Standards and Procedures.
    • Maintain a clean, tidy and safe work environment, free of any spillages or obstacles.
    • Monitor and adhere to Safal Steel maintenance standards, working manuals, working instructions and procedures.
    • Ensure all areas of work are clean during and after work has been completed.

    Equipment operation and maintenance

    • Perform tasks pertaining to routine, planned, and breakdown fabrication work.
    • Conduct planning for tasks. This relates to day plans as well as weekly plans.
    • Perform repairs, replacements, or modifications tasks on plant and equipment as instructed.
    • Conduct training and coaching of Artisan Aids.
    • Assist in activities according to instruction of the Maintenance Manager, Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Technician or Mechanical Foreman.
    • Use tools and equipment provided to ensure the completion of any task.
    • Follow all maintenance related processes and procedures and actively participate in any set maintenance program.
    • Report on maintenance activities as required.
    • Check equipment on a regular basis and report observed defects and deviations from the standard maintenance parameters and requirements to the Maintenance Manager, Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Technician or Mechanical Foreman.

    Requirements

    • Minimum qualification: Grade 12/N3/NQF4 (Mechanical) + Trade tested Fitter (Red Seal from approved training centre), Matric with Maths and Physical Science.
    • Minimum 5 years post qualification experience in industrial/manufacturing environment in Heavy Engineering

    Sales Manager - Boksburg

    Main purpose of the position:

    • To effectively manage, develop and control the sales function by achieving and increasing sales targets above budgeted targets, GP budgets and growing sales in the professional segment. Must be able to build a dynamic and motivated sales team through training, coaching and mentoring and spending time making joint calls with Sales Reps to maximise sales. Providing efficient technical and professional service to customers with the ultimate aim of achieving company profitability and objectives, and in line with acceptable corporate governance standards. In addition, the Sales Manager will exceed their own individual budgeted sales targets as well as provide market intelligence based on competitive products and market opportunities that are encountered during field sales activities.

    Requirements

    Key responsibilities:

    • Assist sales reps in developing business plans that will ensure sales targets are achieved and needs are being met.
    • Consult with and assist sales reps to ensure appropriate roofing systems and pricing is offered to customers, contractors and architects for each sales opportunity.

    • Perform weekly, monthly, quarterly performance reviews with Sales Reps, reviewing actual performance against sales targets and counsel on improvement.
    • Responsible for disciplinary action when required.
    • Maintain sales team by selecting, inducting, motivating and training employees.
    • Facilitate on-going training sessions for sales reps to enhance product knowledge.
    • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
    • Attend trade shows to market Safintra products.
    • Work with the Marketing Department to effectively market company within the professional market and create marketing activities and collateral aimed at increasing sales.
    • Coordinate and manage account plans, sales performance and sales forecasts.
    • Develop strategies, in conjunction with the marketing team for business growth, including how to enter new segments, manage and grow the professional base and increase opportunities for direct sales.
    • Identify opportunities to develop new products/offerings to increase sales.
    • Growing sales in the professional segment.
    • Customer relationship management
    • Complying with established controls and authority levels in the scope of the function
    • Handle queries on customer accounts

    Qualifications required:

    • Minimum academic qualification: Relevant Bachelor’s degree
    • Qualifications as an added advantage: Engineering qualification; Drawing / draughtsman certificate

    Experience required:

    • General work experience (years): 8 years progressive direct sales experience in a medium to large manufacturing organisation
    • Specific to the position (level/discipline/years): Drawing / draughtsman capability
    • 5 years sales management in the commercial roofing industry Must have a technical background.

    Computer literacy:

    • MS Office
    • CAD
    • Navision/SAP
