Job Description
The Customer Service Representative assures the correct and timely processing of orders from national and international customers. In this position you are working closely with customers, sales account managers (inside sales included), agents and internal departments, e.g. Purchasing, Planning, QC, Sales (inside Sales included), Shipping and Technical.

Responsibilities

• Order processing of all customer orders

1. Order processing within our ERP-system (JD Edwards), e.g. checking order details, order entry, x-references, order acknowledgement
2. Respond to customer requests for order changes, delivery status, document requests etc.

• Manage central orders email address; respond to emails, forward emails for other departments to the relevant person/s etc.
• Customer complaints, e.g. organisation of replacement, return of goods
• Coordination with internal departments
• Issuing invoices and credit memos to customer

1. Loading invoices/credit memos on customer portals

• Prepare daily OTIF report
• Monitor recommits
• Update order acknowledgement tracker
• Prepare and email new order summary sheet daily
• Maintain/update customer preferences, print messages and order acknowledgment email addresses
• Maintain delivery notes -

1. Ensure all signed delivery notes are received from our transporter in a timely manner and are saved on the server
2. Ensure all physical/paper delivery notes are filed by month and stored in the archive room as a backup

• Answer incoming calls on Sensient’s landline

Education & Experience

• Matric Exemption (Grade 12) Certificate
• A minimum of 5 years’ of professional experience in Customer Service/Sales Assistant, work experience in the food ingredients/FMCG/business-to-business is advantageous
• Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and handle multiple tasks in an effective manner
• Excellent communication skills, experience in working both autonomously as well as in a team
• High performance individual with a strong work ethic
• Computer literate
• Knowledge and/or experience in dealing within an ERP system, e.g. JD Edwards, Salesforce are an advantage
• Knowledge of required documentation and logistics for exports is advantageous
• Very good English language skills (fluent in spoken and written), other additional language proficiencies are an advantage

Job Summary

The Sensient Technologies SA Application Specialist works on projects related to Food (Beverage, Confections, Pet Food, Processed Foods and Dairy products), Pharmaceutical and HPIC products. The Application Specialist runs their own application projects involving natural and synthetic flavors, application work with natural and synthetic colors. The focus is on beverage application, but ice-cream and savory work is also required.  The ability to create new products for local production is essential.  A strong academic basis and previous lab knowledge is required to promote and build new, global natural color and flavor sales and reinforce existing ones by providing technical service to clients and prospects. Supervision of staff and running the daily admin and project management is needed to service customer driven projects.  This individual will be a strong resource to the Technical Service Manager to service customer driven projects

Responsibilities

• Deliver on customer projects in accordance with the project specifications on time.
• Development of application formulations, creation and optimization of application processes
• Develop  color and flavor solution in formulations, understanding interactions of the colors and flavors with the product formulation.
• Works in improving the formulation and stability properties of synthetic and natural colors and flavors, i.e. light stability, thermal stability, etc., by physical modification of the colorants and flavors
• Provides technical assistance to both internal and external customers/clients and prospects within their area of expertise.
• Conduct technical seminars, trainings and presentations of innovative color concepts
• Works with operations and quality assurance in developing manufacturing procedures for new products.
• Assists Quality Control in development of quality control procedures.
• Maintains and orders lab stock raw materials and consumables as required.
• Maintains the color and flavor libraries and order new stock when need be.
• Serve in the sampling department by means of ordering, preparing and shipping samples
• Generates technical reports for internal use as well as customer presentations.
• Assists with calibration of equipment.
• Assists with analytical method development.
• Manage multiple, constantly changing priorities through effective organization and team orientated leadership strategies to ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner.
• Interact with other departments and/or business units in the global group to utilize the expertise of the group to develop/recommend products to meet or exceed project objectives.
• Lead, manage, direct and develop application personnel in the creation of products to demonstrate Sensient’s capabilities.
• Assists Quality Control in conducting internal audits, based on the food safety management system in place.
• Report on monthly KPI metrics and proactively problem solve and implement improvements.

Education & Experience

• A university degree in chemistry, food technology or a similar studies.
• A minimum of 3 years professional experience in R&D and Application in the food ingredients industry, esp. beverages and sweet, is preferred
• Strong understanding of the development, production and application of food ingredients, experience with food flavors and colors is required.
• A minimum of 3 years’ of professional experience in regulatory in the food ingredients industry, experience with food colors are an advantage
• Ability to gain and apply extensive knowledge of regional and international food regulations and their application. Must be able to develop the ability to review, interpret and summarize technical information
• Ability to supervise and lead team in order to achieve targets.
• Very good knowledge of MS Office; experience in dealing with a computerized project management system.
• Very good English language skills (fluent in spoken and written), other additional language proficiencies are an advantage
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and handle multiple tasks in an effective manner
