    BC Deputy Head: School Administration and Operations

    Description:

    • Due to promotion of the current incumbent, the Boys’ College invites applications for the abovementioned position which will be available from January 2024. The position reports directly to the Head of School: Boys’ College.
    • The Boys’ College seeks to employ an Instructional Leader and Change Agent who is passionate about the education of boys, and who will inspire our staff and students, develop fellow leaders, and who is excited about their own professional growth and enjoys exposure to new ideas. The successful candidate will work effectively with the school’s management and Heads of various departments, to improve the delivery, measurable outcomes, smooth functioning, and the overall performance of the Boys’ College. 

    Requirements:

     The requirements for this position are:

    • A suitable professional qualification and appropriate educational experience
    • A collaborative spirit and confidence in managing change
    • A visionary, with the ability to influence those in your care as well as being diplomatic, decisive, inclusive and a source of energy and inspiration
    • The ability to develop, foster and sustain appropriate partnerships and positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders and promote collaboration in the educational experiences of the schools of St Stithians College and in the broader schooling environment
    • A high level of organisational, managerial, administrative and communication skills as well as the ability to role model the attributes of a servant leader
    • Solid knowledge and experience of corporate governance principles and performance management strategies
    • Experience as a tactful negotiator able to adjudicate in a dispute
    • A solid and progressive understanding of, and experience in, the opportunities and challenges of leading and managing a South African school in the 21st century in the context of national transformation
    • A good understanding and experience in budget management and financial planning
    • Previous experience in a senior leadership position within an education setting would be a distinct advantage
    • A commitment to on-going personal and professional development
    • An awareness of and willingness to commit to its all-round ethos, co-curricular activities and pastoral approach
    • Proof of registration with SACE supported by a sexual offender’s clearance certificate

    GC English Teacher

    Description:

    • The College invites applications for the abovementioned position which will be available from 1 January 2024.
    • Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced individuals who believe they have the required skills and competencies to take on this position.

    Requirements:

    The requirements for this position are:

    • A recognised degree and/or a 4-year professional teaching qualification with at least 5 years’ teaching experience.
    • A passion and vision for English
    • A sound and progressive understanding of international trends and changes in girls’ education and 21st century learning
    • Experience in leading change, transformation and diversity initiatives within the English curriculum
    • The desire to be part of a dynamic team
    • Superior planning, organisational and reporting skills
    • Experience teaching English at the FET level, preferably up to Grade 12 level
    • Teaching at an IEB school and NSC marking experience will be advantageous
    • Experience and expertise in guiding students to reach their true potential
    • Create classroom communities where all members of the class are valued, and contribute to the creation of knowledge
    • Evaluate, reflect on, and refine teaching practice
    • Excellent communication (oral, written and presentation) and technology skills
    • Noteworthy time management and interpersonal skills
    • Knowledge in creating varied and innovative learning programmes and assessment
    • Interest in cross-curricular and interdisciplinary work
    • A willingness to work within the values, Christian ethos and mission of the College as well as to participate in the broader life of the school, including extramural activities
    • Proof of registration with SACE
    • Any staff member working within a school is required to have a sexual offender’s clearance certificate
