    Engineer In Training - JHB

    You as an Engineer in Training (Open) will be part of Hitachi Energy business based in Johannesburg, South Africa. You as Student Support Engineer (SSE) will be trained to work in the Transformer Tendering and Sales environment.

    Your Training:

    • The basics of transformers – online courses.
    • Transformer components and accessories - online courses.
    • Transformer Services - online courses.
    • Tendering process.
    • You will be able to execute a complete RFQ yourself from start to finish (with support from the team).
    • The SSE will also be trained to deliver professional and courteous customer support service and promote a productive and positive relationship with customers in typical day-to-day interactions. Also, participate in and contribute to team efforts and manage your individual contributions.

    Your background

    • You should have a Degree/B-tech in Electrical Engineering.

    • Knowledge of one or multiple of the following technologies would be advantageous: Transformers /High voltage substation and equipment.
    • Microsoft, Outlook, Word, Excel etc
    • Read, analyze, and comprehend technical and functional documentation.

    Senior Project Engineer – Protection

    You as a Senior Project Engineer – Protection will be part of Hitachi Energy business based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Designing engineering of Substation control and protection systems leading up to site commissioning to ensure projects are executed in accordance with Hitachi Energy procedures, contract specifications and schedule commitments, quality standards, health, safety & environment requirements.

    Your responsibilities

    • Developing together with the project core team the protection and control concepts
      for transmission and distribution substations in line with customer specification.
    • Developing protection and control IEDs configuration in line with customer specification and approved detailed designs.
    • Developing testing procedures to perform factory acceptance testing in conjunction with the customer to prove functionality of the designs.
    • Specification and sizing of control cabling with cable schedule design. Provide support to the commissioning team during installation and commissioning stages of the project.
    • Working closely with and provide progress information to Project Managers to ensuring timely delivery of all project milestones. Timely report to Project managers any current and potential issues that may affect the program or cost.
    • Management of quality of total engineering efforts on projects.
    • Ensuring lessons learned from all execution are analyzed and conclusions are incorporated as continuous improvement actions.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills are essential, proven ability to handle customer comments and approval responses to support project manager in project engineering is a must.
    • Providing sales and tendering support.
    • Attending site clarification meetings and perform site visits.
    • Must be eligible to travel internationally.

    Your background           

    • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or national diploma is required.
    • Minimum of 6 to 10 years working experience in power systems protection and control environment.
    • General knowledge of Control / RTU Systems, Switchgear, Transformers, Substation and Power Stations and commissioning.
    • Good Technical knowledge of Power Systems protection and control.
    • Registered with ECSA or eligible for registration.
    • Have a good communication and interpersonal skills and self-motivated analytical thinker with high level of creativity.
    • Able to work under pressure, handle stress, and to use own initiative and must be willing to work from time to time after hours to complete tenders.
    • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.

    Sales Manager - Mozambique

    You as Sales Manager will be part of Hitachi Energy business based in Mozambique, South Africa. You will be responsible for sales of products/systems/services within a designated market in accordance with strategy. Build long term customer relationships and manage resolution to specific customer needs and issues. Identify and develop sales opportunities.

    Your responsibilities

    • Selling products/systems/services to customers, focusing on volume, mix and profitability targets for assigned Business Units/Product Groups.
    • Establishing and maintaining effective customer relationships to understand customer needs, promote customer understanding of full product/systems/ services offering, and align to provide a solution. Ensures a positive customer experience throughout the sales process.
    • Preparing sales plans using company tools. Performs regular status reviews and proposes recovery plan(s) in cases of potential order shortfalls.
    • Creating added value for the customer and Hitachi Energy and ensures the successful outcome of transactions, contracts, and proposals by using effective sales techniques. Communicates details in accordance with Hitachi Energy’s offering and strategy (delivery time, payments, and general terms and conditions).
    • Ensuring efficient marketing activities and value proposition to customers.
    • Identifying and drives the development of new market opportunities in the designated market and ensures know-how sharing and cross-collaboration.
    • Managing administrative procedures in sales processes and supports collection and project management activities when needed.
    • Preparing offers in coordination with the bid and proposal department and/or the Marketing Manager.
    • Ensuring appropriate technical and financial aspects of offers, including prices and trading conditions.

    Your background             

    • Degree or Diploma in Electric or Electronic Engineering or equivalent
    • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in customer relationship building business development and sales in the utility environment in Mozambique.
    • Proven track record of sales of Power Grid projects and products
    • In depth understanding of the market and operating environment of the target country
    • Proven experience in working with cross-country teams in the business areas of Power Grids is advantageous.
