    IMT - Expatriate Compliance Tax - Senior Associate 1

    Key Responsibilities:

    • You will be responsible of preparation of income tax returns (IT12’s) and supporting schedules for various sized multinational clients.
    • Assisting with the preparation of provisional tax returns and attending to queries from SARS on tax returns etc.
    • You will be responsible for checking assessments, preparing, and lodging of objections, where applicable.
    • Responsible for analysing of tax accounts on behalf of clients and attend to various correspondence from SARS.
    • You will be required to assist with the billing and engagement process and the maintenance of global database.

    To qualify for the role, you must have:

    • Have Expatriate/Local tax compliance experience of at least 2-3 years 
    • Need to have good understanding of all income tax and double tax agreements relating to expatriate taxes for both inbound and outbound assignees 
    • Have good understanding of the processes around provisional taxes as well as processes for e-filing 
    • Have good understanding of tax residency for expatriates

    Manager - International Tax and Transaction Services

    Key Responsibilities

    • You are required to demonstrate an understanding of increasingly complex tax concepts and effectively apply your tax knowledge to client situations, developing and delivering innovative tax planning ideas with timely, responsive services and work products that meet and/or exceed client expectations.
    • You will conduct tax due diligence reviews, engage in structuring engagements, accurately analyse information and prepare quality, practical and creative approaches tailored to a client’s tax and economic situation, arriving at appropriate conclusions.

    Skills and attributes for success

    • Assisting with buy side and sell side due diligences
    • Assisting in advising clients on the structuring of business transactions and tax implications thereof
    • Drafting of opinions for clients on the tax consequences of restructures, mergers and acquisitions, as well as other pertinent matters
    • Research of complex tax issues
    • Interpretation of tax legislation
    • Liaison with SARS and Counsel regarding complex and uncertain tax matters
    • Assisting with the implementation of transactions, including:
    • Review of financial models
    • Review of tax implications of Transaction legal documentation
    • Tax manager responsibilities in respect of the above will include:
    • Planning assignment approaches including understanding client expectations and scoping work
    • Pro-actively identifying areas of contention, discussing with the engagement team and proposing solutions where possible
    • Ensuring timely delivery
    • Financial portfolio management, including WIP management, billings and cash collection
    • Complying with risk management procedures
    • Training and performance management of consultants
    • Managing the work performance of consultants
    • Expanding professional network internally and externally
    • Supervising office administration functions

    • The larger tax community and staff
    • Cross-service line partners and managers
    • Relevant firm subject matter experts

    To qualify for the role you must have

    • CA (SA), TA (SA) or admitted attorney
    • Ability to communicate complex tax concepts succinctly and clearly to clients
    • Experience managing budgets, projects and people
    • Ability to develop relationships with clients and provide a high level of client service
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and time management capabilities
    • The ability to work at a fast pace, often with shifting responsibilities
    • Minimum of four years’ related experience

    Ideally, you will also have

    • A consistent record of excellence in a professional services environment
    • Experience in one of the Big 4 preferable

    Associate Director, Financial Services Audit Professional Practice

    Your key responsibilities

    • Participating in technical accounting consultations and providing technical support to audit teams;
    • Performing pre-issuance technical reviews on listed financial services entity financial statements;
    • Supporting the technical learning and development of the audit practice through the preparation and delivery of technical updates, publications, and training material;
    • Actively participating in accounting standard subject matter group(s);
    • Building strong relationships both internally and externally, including building your profile with professional bodies and organisations;

    Skills and attributes for success

    To quality for the role you must have:

    • CA (SA), and 5 - 7 years’ relevant experience thorough knowledge in International Financial Reporting Standards;
    • Experience in working with financial services companies including banks and or insurance entities.  
    • Experience in analysing complex accounting issues such as securitisations, special purpose entities and expected credit loss models. In addition, experience in providing solutions in accordance with the relevant accounting standards and legislation, including IFRS 9 Financial Instruments or IFRS 17 Insurance.
