    Intern: Camera Operator - Cape Town CBD

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Filming

    • Support senior Camera Operators in filming news content and interviews.
    • Observe and practice proper framing, exposure, and use of light and sound equipment.
    • Assist in setting up cameras and maintaining steady shots.
    • Learn how to conduct basic interviews, where appropriate.

    Live Events

    • Assist with live streaming equipment setup (e.g., LiveU).
    • Learn to manage camera positioning and follow live shot instructions.
    • Help troubleshoot minor equipment issues under guidance.

    Editing

    • Support Video Editors by organizing footage.
    • Learn basic editing techniques for news packages.
    • Assist with transferring video files between field and studio.

    Intern: Technical Operations - JHB North

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Floor Manager

    • Welcome guests and ensure their safety and microphone setup.
    • Check studio equipment functionality and report issues.
    • Cue talent and give countdowns during live shows.
    • Ensure adherence to studio protocols.

    Graphics Operator

    • Confirm functionality of Viz machine and software.
    • Ensure graphics rundown accuracy and preview content before airing.

    Autocue

    • Preview and clean scripts before production.
    • Update scripts and operate autocue in sync with presenter.

    Server/Brio Operator

    • Setting up and operating the Server/Brio for video playback and recording.
    • Taking direction from the Technical Director on playback as per the running order.

    Production Assistant

    • Coordinate with FCC to ensure timing accuracy.
    • Monitor countdowns for bytes/packages and manage transitions.
    • Calculate interview durations and signal breaks.

    Floor Audio Assistant

    Gear checking:

    • Set up the Microphone in studio.
    • Check if all microphones work properly.
    • Pack microphones separately in their cases after the bulletin/Show.
    • Check that mic belt clips and croc clips are all still there before and after the bulletin.
    • Check with Sound and the Technical Director if both comms 1 &2 work properly.
    • Make sure that batteries are all fully charged before the bulletin/show.
    • Place batteries in charger after the bulletin and make sure that they are charging.

     Presenters:

    • Ensure Presenters microphones, in ear comms are properly and neatly run and no tape or cables are showing.

    Intern: Video Editor

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Video Editing

    • Assist with editing short- and long-form video content for news and current affairs.
    • Apply basic video corrections, blurs, and voice alterations when needed.
    • Insert subtitles, graphics, run-ins, and run-outs according to broadcast specs.
    • Support audio editing, including laying voice-overs and adjusting audio levels.

    Qualifications

    Intern: Credit Controller

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Administrative Support:

    • Assisting with administration tasks such as calling the bank statements and saving in the correct folders.
    • Updating the excel spreadsheet with customer details and payments.
    • Scanning of documents and saving files in the correct folder on Credit Management.
    • Following-up on payments.

    Debtors Age Analysis:

    • Assisting in updating and maintaining the debtors age analysis report, including client account reconciliations.

    Payment Capturing:

    • Capturing incoming payments on Sage.
    • Assisting in balancing bank transactions for daily reconciliation.

    BTS Functions:

    • Assisting with BTS functions such as creating accounts, loading of information accurately and loading of contracts. 
    • Updating of the Daily figures from BTS to Excel.

    Statements and Invoicing:

    • Creating manual invoices for upfront payment clients.
    • Sending out statements and invoices via email.

    Client Query Resolution:

    Intern:Presentation Scheduler - Cape Town CBD

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Broadcast Management System Scheduling

    • Creating an accurate daily transmission schedule.
    • Maintaining the final schedule and the distribution of it to on air users both internal and external.

    Stakeholder Liaison

    • Liaising with external departments for any programmes, promo discrepancies, late start times and outstanding material.
    • Liaising with the Commercial Time Sales Departments for all commercial scheduling, outstanding material and over sells.
    • Communicating all schedule and broadcast responsibilities to FCC. 

    Branding Management

    • Implementing promotion planning and meeting contractual agreements.
    • Scheduling channel branding.
    • Viewing and scheduling of interstitial programming, channel branding and promos. 

    Schedule / Playlist Management

    • Identifying, prioritising and dealing with issues affecting the broadcast, proactively, in a timely and professional manner by implementing the appropriate solution.

    Intern:Quality Assurance Reviewer

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Quality Assurance

    • Analysing audio and video quality of programmes in real time.
    • Ensuring that the technical requirements and/or quality of all media operations material is in line with the Internal and External broadcasting specifications.
    • Ensuring that all timings and other relevant information are correctly loaded on the Media and Broadcasting Management systems.
    • Ensuring that all material required for broadcasts are ingested and a quality assurance review is performed on ingested material as per the schedule.
    • Ensuring the correct material is captured and conforms to broadcast standards.
    • Evaluating images and processes through PSE (Photosensitive Epilepsy) test, when required.
    • Mastering finished material timeously and archiving existing projects.
    • Flagging any classification queries to be delivered.
    • Ensuring that all relevant components (audio mixes, textless elements, etc) are ingested on International Masters.
    • Reviewing and responding to daily shift and missing media reports when on shift.

    Editing

    • Editing material as and when required according to stakeholder requirements.
    • Formatting multiple file wrappers and codecs.

    Reporting

    • Technical issues are promptly resolved or escalated to the supervisor.
    • Detailed non-TX reports are compiled, clearly outlining errors and associated timings.
    • Accurate records are kept, and feedback reports are shared accordingly.
    • Shift reports are addressed, with relevant feedback communicated to stakeholders.

    Ingest/Workflow

    • Files are organized according to standard operating procedures.
    • Live recordings are properly identified, set up, captured, and processed in time for rebroadcast.
    • Media reports are completed before log downloads, and DBIs are processed ahead of transmission.
    • Broadcast material is ingested as scheduled, with quality checks performed.

    Intern: Motion Design

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Conceptualise and design motion graphics for TV, digital, and social media campaigns.
    • Working hands-on in Adobe After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop to create animations, graphic assets, and storyboards.
    • Learning to adapt design and animation to the needs of broadcast standards and brand guidelines.
    • Developing 3D skills (e.g., Blender, Cinema4D or equivalent), with mentorship to integrate 3D into daily motion design work.
    • Experiment with and learn generative AI tools to enhance creative workflows.
    • Assisting the senior Motion Designers with production tasks, asset preparation, and file management.
    • Participating in creative reviews: receive feedback, iterate on your work, and learn to defend your ideas diplomatically.
