    Industrial Quality Engineer_ALP45

    Your future role

    • Take on a new challenge and apply your industrial quality expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside a collaborative, dynamic, and innovative team of professionals.
    • You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring product quality compliance with customer and internal specifications, making a tangible impact by driving quality performance and achieving operational excellence. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business, including the Process & Manufacturing Engineering (PME) team, Supply Chain (SC), and Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA), contributing to cross-functional quality initiatives and much more.
    • You’ll specifically take care of analyzing Defects per Unit (DpU) and External Demerits to improve quality performance, but also support decision-making for production handovers and participate in customer inspections.

    We’ll look to you for:

    • Managing industrial activities in the workshop, focusing on people, processes, and performance
    • Leading efficient Line Quality Animation with cross-functional teams
    • Ensuring mandatory safety and quality standards are upheld, including the authority to stop production if necessary
    • Contributing to Process FMEA (Failure Mode & Effect Analysis) and Criticality Matrix analysis
    • Implementing and updating Quality Control Plans during pre- and serial manufacturing activities
    • Managing Internal NCR (Non-Conformance Reports) and supporting the team using problem-solving methodologies

    • Degree or diploma in Quality Management, Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
    • 5 years of experience with Quality in Industrial
    • Technical background enabling the understanding of critical characteristics of the products (electromechanical, electrical, material, mechanical) or equivalent
    • Must be able to read drawings / specifications and familiar with a variety of test equipment
    • Experience or understanding of quality tools and problem-solving methodologies
    • Knowledge of quality standards such as ISO9001, IRIS, or CMMI
    • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and digital tools
    • A Lean Six Sigma or equivalent certification
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings/specifications
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

    Job Purpose

    • The programme offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable skills in the transport rail manufacturing industry. Participants will experience a dynamic and challenging work environment, collaborating with various teams across the organization.
    • The role includes servicing and maintaining high‑quality products, as well as supporting the monitoring of compliance with Gibela’s requirements and standards.

    Minimum Requirements

    • ND/ Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management/Industrial and Organisational Psychology.
    • No previous work experience
    • South African citizen between 18 and 35 years of age
    • Excellent communicate skills in English
    • MS Office literate

    Behavioural requirements include:

    • Demonstrate Honesty, Integrity, Teamwork and Respect
    • Reliable, efficient, self-reliant and flexible
    • Positive outlook driven and passionate  

    Special Requirements

    • Incumbent will be required to travel coastal and inland Depots.

    Supplier Quality Serial Engineer

    Your future role

    • You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our supplier products, driving continuous improvement and fostering strong supplier relationships. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across procurement, industrial organization, and supply chain, coordinate non-conformity report (NCR) management, and implement quality gates and mechanisms at supplier premises, and much more.
    • You’ll specifically take care of supplier performance reviews and First Article Inspections (FAI), but also manage containment actions and lead problem-solving initiatives with suppliers.

    We’ll look to you for:

    • Managing non-conformity reports (NCRs) and ensuring timely actions to address defects
    • Leading supplier performance reviews and improvement roadmaps
    • Implementing quality mechanisms such as Q-Walls and batch inspections
    • Conducting First Article Inspections (FAI) and monitoring performance
    • Handling waiver management and supplier audits
    • Collaborating with internal teams and suppliers to resolve quality issues and ensure continuous improvement

    • Lead external auditor certification (desirable)

    • Experience managing supplier relationships or using SAP (desirable)
    • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to collaborate effectively
