    Communication Executive

    Job Description:

    • Following the launch of the Origins strategy, De Beers Group has streamlined its business globally to ensure that it delivers its strategy effectively to achieve long-term growth. The global communications team plays a critical role in implementing the Origins strategy and creating a safe, purpose-led and high-performance culture. The role of Communications Executive, Venetia Mine will be central in collaborating with the Mine leadership team, employees, contractors and various external stakeholders to implement and oversee communication plans in support of the Group Strategy.

    The role will primarily focus on the following key priorities:

    Key Tasks

    • Develop and implement an integrated communication plan for Venetia Mine that supports the company’s purpose and strategy
    • Lead the internal communications element of strategic business improvement initiatives and change management projects
    • Support Venetia Leadership Team in executing their communications responsibilities and delivering specific departmental objectives including annual media training
    • Drive employee engagement through coordinating quarterly engagement sessions across various workforce levels

    Qualifications:

    • A degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or any other relevant field required.  
    • 8+ years’ experience in implementing communication plans, channels and campaigns at a corporate and operational level.
    • Experience in building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Relevant experience in building and maintaining the organisation’s reputation and brand with internal and external stakeholders, interested parties and the public.
    • Demonstrable and proven track record of developing, packaging and delivering successful internal and employee engagement campaigns.
    • Understanding of the South African mining industry, including social issues.

    The Role

    • We are seeking a Specialist Ore Reservesfor our copper operations. The role is to develop ore reserves from LoAP with a strategy that maximises value extracted from the mining plan for the benefit of all stakeholders.

    Key role requirements:

    • Integrate and track cross functional initiatives that impact on reserve generation and LoAP
    • Create Reserves for existing operations.
    • Prepare report of mine Reserves in compliance with relevant codes.
    • Provide specialist support to a business or function as required.

    Analyst Data Geotechnical

    Job Description:

    • The Analyst Data Geotechnical is responsible for all geotechnical instrumentation used in the department, as well as to assist the Strata Control Assistants and Strat Control Officers, with daily tasks.
    • Below are some of the key responsibilities you will be required to execute.
    • Prepare and process all underground GPR scans daily.
    • Prepare and process graphical representation for Strata Control Officer’s scrutiny and action on the same day.
    • Assist the Strata Control Officer with preparation of the GPR reports and recommendations.
    • Conduct mapping of the designated scanned areas for underground GPR scanning of all tip areas and ancillary excavations.
    • Conduct monthly routine GPR scanning as required by Strata Control Officer or management.
    • Write GPR reports and communicate it to the Engineering and Rock Engineering department.
    • Conduct GPR planning and communicate it to the Engineering and Rock Engineering department.
    • Carry the control console for GPR to ensure data integrity during collection.
    • Ensure all tips and ancillary excavations are scanned and that fall of ground (FOG) lights are installed as per standard.
    • Install and monitor underground Rock Mass Monitoring instrumentation.
    • Assist the SCO with TARP RED panel visits and follow ups.
    • Assist with Rock Engineering projects and testing of new support products.
    • Perform quality control on secondary support installations.
    • Plotting of Q-ratings onto the Live Mine Plan daily.
    • Plotting of GPR scans on Live Mine Plan daily.
    • Update the TARP register and TARP turnaround times on a weekly basis.
    • This role is in the engineering department at a C3 level reporting to the Shaft Rock Engineer.

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12/ Matric
    • Studying towards the Strata Control Officer (Certificate) – advantageous

    Experience:

    • At least two (2) years’ experience in Rock Engineering environment

    Technical Skills:

    • Good interpretation skills in analysing borehole camera.
    • Computer literacy (MS Office Suite).
    • Proficient in application of expertise and technology.

    Additional Requirements

    • Medical certificate of fitness
