    Training Coordinator

    Job Purpose

    • The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive training programs that enhance employee skills, knowledge, and performance. This role will work closely with various departments to identify training needs, implement training programs and initiatives and manage all training activities align with organizational goals.
    • Otraco Southern Africa is a key part of Bridgestone’s strategy to enhance mobility solutions and tyre-centric services across all market segments. As part of Bridgestone's initiative to improve these services, the company recognized a need for specific mining services and enhancements within the mining sector. The acquisition of Otraco Southern Africa, with its expertise in tyre management systems, creates a valuable opportunity to expand and strengthen Bridgestone's mobility solutions in this important market.

    Responsibilities:

    • Identify and assess current and future training needs through job analysis, career paths, appraisals, and consultations with line managers.
    • Develop overall or individualized training and development plans that address organizational and employee needs.
    • Use a variety of effective training methods, including inductions, orientations, and ongoing development opportunities.
    • Monitor, evaluate, and report on the effectiveness and success of training programs.
    • Conduct vocational assessments in line with Otraco Training Standards and regulatory requirements to determine employee competency.
    • Design, develop, and maintain up-to-date training materials and documentation.
    • Prepare and submit monthly training plans, while monitoring training progress to ensure completion within required timeframes.
    • Stay informed about industry training trends, best practices, and maintain personal development through continuous learning and collaboration.
    • Develop, implement, and evaluate safety training programs, including inductions and refresher courses, to promote compliance and safe work practices in mining environments.
    • Ensure workplace safety by reporting hazards, conducting risk analyses, maintaining safety training records, and collaborating with safety officers to meet regulatory standards.

    Qualifications & Experience Required

    Education, Master, other certification:

    • Grade 12 National Senior Certificate.
    • A valid and appropriate light vehicle driver’s license (South African Code 08).
    • Related industry field certificates or relevant experience.

    Preferred:

    • Facilitator & Assessor Certification.
    • Experience in the Off the Road Tyre Services industry.

    Experience (years):

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the mining sector and/or training and development sector, preferably in a managerial role.
    • Proven experience developing, implementation and managing of mining-specific training programs.

    Skills:

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate diverse teams.
    • Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS) and other training technologies/systems relevant to the mining sector.
    • Ability to analyze data and assess training effectiveness.
    • Strong understanding of mining safety regulations and adult learning principles.
    • The candidate must have excellent proficiency in both Afrikaans and English .
    • Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally in both languages, both verbally and in writing
    • The candidate must be willing and able to undertake extensive travel across the African continent to render tyre management training on mining operations.
    • Flexibility to adapt to different time zones, cultural environments, and local conditions is essential.

    Technical Supervisor/Planner

     Job Purpose

    • Technical Supervisor / Planner provides technical and safety support to site personnel and where necessary, liaise with senior personnel within the client companies. The Technical Supervisor / Planner will be resourceful, flexible to a changing business environment and its demands and adapt quickly to new circumstances. The Technical Supervisor / Planner must be able to maintain a high level of participation in the safe running of an on-site.

    Responsibilities:

    • Liaise with tyre suppliers with regards to tyre supply and manufacturer warrantees           
    • Make recommendations to Project Engineers on any factor affecting tyre performance and costs, or which would enhance the overall performance of the operation (usually via GMR).           
    • Ensure that the contract scope of work is performed to a high quality of service.
    • Taking part in the evaluation of all training procedures and personnel assessments           
    • Ensure that quality documents are maintained, filed and archived according to OMS procedures.   
    • Ensure that technical standards are implemented and being maintained on sites where appropriate.
    • Audit sites for compliance to the OMS.
    • Liaise with responsible personnel as required, identifying and reporting any quality related complaints or deficiencies.        
    • Ensure that Otraco standards and policies are being maintained and that all employees comply with the procedures as per the OMS.              
    • Review the statistical and written sections of monthly reports (GMR/SMR’s).
    • Provide technical specifications & feedback to the technical manager to ensure that workshop equipment is fit for purpose and meets safety requirements.
    • Provide technical reports and site severity reports.                
    • Prepare technical presentations as and when required.       
    • Provide technical engineering support for proposed contracts.
    • Perform tool & equipment audits.
    • Perform technical training on tools & equipment .
    • Perform and monitor equipment calibrations.       
    • Prepare Pit Reports.                  
    • Prepare Weekly Wall Charts. 
    • Scheduling planned work.      
    • Asset management – Cerf / Verify / TM17.             
    • Forecasting (Tyre Requirements).
    • Adhere to and make use of the Otraco disciplinary procedure.

    Qualifications & Experience Required

    • Exceptional communication skills
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Senior Certificate or equivalent to Grade 12
    • Sound technical tyre knowledge
    • Must be able to perform without supervision
    • Computer literacy with advanced experience in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

    Experience (years):

    • 4 years or more of Off the Road (OTR) earthmoving experience

    Skills:

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    Safety:

    • Ensure that all personnel work safely and follow Occupational Health and Safety Procedures.
    • Ensure that all personnel are properly inducted into the workplace.
    • Ensure that all personnel have valid driver’s licenses, medicals and inductions.
    • Ensure that all personnel adhere to the site “lock-out” procedure.
    • Ensure that all personnel use and maintain personal protective equipment according to procedures.
    • Comply with site emergency evacuation procedures.
    • Compile safety audits.
    • Monitoring and conducting Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Planned Task Observation (PTO), (SBO) and risk assessments.
    • Assist with the investigation of incidents to determine controls to eliminate or reduce the risk of injury or damage to personnel and equipment.
    • Review safe work procedures to ensure Otraco site personnel are compliant with technical standards and sound, safe work practices.
    • Ensure compliance with all instructions documented in the OMS Safety Plan.
    • Promote safe work practices throughout the company.
    • Assist with setting safety standards, implementing safety programmes and ensure that all Otraco employees have the systems to maintain safe working practices on each site.
    • Accept and adhere to legal appointment.
