    CAT Financial has an exciting opening for an experienced Accountant to join the team in Johannesburg.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

    Responsibilities vary, but may include one or more of the following duties:

    • Under limited supervision, performs a wide variety of intricate and complex accounting duties.
    • Duties and responsibilities will be focused primarily on activities requiring the use of in-depth accounting knowledge, practices, and principles as well as ingenuity and originality.
    • Appreciable latitude for unreviewed actions and decisions are within the scope of delegated authority.
    • Analyses financial reports and records and may make studies or recommendations relative to the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.
    • May review and verify the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records.
    • When inconsistencies or problems occur which are outside delegated authority, they are brought to the attention of management.
    • Recommendations are made to management regarding the proper means by which to resolve these issues.
    • May make recommendations for changes in policies and procedures to correct accounting related problems and processes.
    • Applies a broad knowledge of advanced accounting methods and procedures.
    • May coordinate and review lower-level accounting work assignments for accuracy and completeness.
    • May participate in accounting system development, determining specifications, testing and implementation.
    • May lead a project as a team leader.
    • Understands the established continuous improvement objectives for the department.
    • Measures progress toward the continuous improvement standards and ensure that the necessary measurements are maintained.
    • Participates in the resolution of any identified problems.
    • Analyses data and makes all business decisions based on such analysis.
    • Understands the Harassment policy of the company and is responsible for its application in all aspects of employment.

    Skills, Abilities and Knowledge:

    • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
    • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Demonstrated ingenuity and innovation.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of ability to apply math computation skills including basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as statistics and other mathematical concepts used in modelling.
    • Thorough knowledge of accounting distribution and ability to verify the correctness and completeness of such information.
    • Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP and FASB regulations and procedures as they relate to the area of accounting.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to use the software packages utilized by accounting.
    • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain advanced Excel spreadsheets and Word documents.

    Education/Experience:

    • Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a bachelor’s degree in another discipline plus Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) exam or the international equivalent.
    • A minimum of 2-4 years of accounting experience is recommended.

    Credit Analyst II - Guateng

    Job purpose:

    As a Credit Analyst at Caterpillar – FPD, you will carry out activities necessary to provide credit to customers with acceptable limits of risk to the company.

    What you will do:

    • Negotiates complex financial transactions and prepares transactions for documentation and funding within limits of authority. 
    • Negotiates changes in standard documents with legal assistance. 
    • Assists in administration of wholesale and retail customer "loan" covenant compliance reviews, including on-site record and physical machine/inventory audits.
    • Determines customer credit worthiness, approves/rejects customer deals within approved credit authority, recommends deals beyond credit authority, and restructures customer deals. 
    • Conducts and monitors credit investigations. 
    • Assists in leading the documentation of retail accounts receivable and administers in-processing, signing, and funding of documented transactions. 
    • Assists in managing accounting input and audits booked deals for accuracy.  May provide training for employees in the areas of credit, documentation, and in-processing.
    • Participates in the identification of problem areas and development of resolutions to address them.

    Skills you will have:

    • Technical Excellence - Provides effective solutions to Credit Analysis through strong technical competence.
    • Knowledge of credit concepts and techniques.
    • Knowledge of financing and leasing products of the subsidiary.
    • Knowledge of billing, invoicing and dealer payment principles and concepts.
    • Ability to apply effective oral, written, and listening communication skills with dealers, customers, company personnel, and the financial community.

    Qualifications and experience:

    • A completed 3-year Finance qualification.
    • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in credit, collections, and financial statement analysis is recommended.
    • Experience in the financial/banking industry will be advantageous.

    Technical Support Rep ( Chinese Accounts)

    Caterpillar’s Global Construction & Infrastructure (GCI) division has an exciting opening for a Senior Technical Representative to support Chinese Accounts in Africa, Middle East and Eurasia. Working hands-on with construction equipment, customers, and dealers, this role consults on machine product problem management within an assigned territory for Caterpillar machines. This is a dealer and customer facing assignment where technical aptitude partnered with strong decision making and customer service skills is the key to success.     What you will do:

    • Drive and support Dealer Product Problem Management process; including in proactively identifying and resolving complex technical product issues, failure analysis, identifying interim technical solutions, communicating with engineering, and goodwill decisions to maximize customer experience.
    • Regularly interface with dealers and customers to minimize the commercial impact of customer complaints, ensure customers receive fair value and promote additional customer touch points and future sales in concert with dealer personnel.
    • Provide technical guidance and counsel dealers on presentations designed to inform customers of service advantages. Mentor team members on communication, problem solving and sharing technical expertise.
    • Directing dealers in managing Product Improvement Programs cost-effectively and within designated timeframes.
    • Collaborate internally with business partners to deliver product defect fixes for our end users in partnership with our dealers.
    • Provide input to Service Operations Specialists for shop operations, service process improvements, and systems, to help dealers achieve higher service quality and improve profitability.

    • Consulting and effective communications– Extensive experience: knowledge of techniques, roles, and responsibilities in providing technical or business guidance to customers. Manages all aspects and phases of a consulting relationship and successfully engage others through clear and tailored communications.
    • Product technical knowledge – Extensive experience: provides effective solutions to moderate technical challenges through strong technical competence, effectively examining implications of events and issues. Technical expertise on Excavation and Earthmoving construction equipment.

    Degree and Experience requirement:

    • Bachelor Degree
    • 8+ years of product support, quality, sales, and/or engineering experience  
    • Construction equipment/heavy machinery experience (hands on or job in industry) 
    • Incumbent must speak fluently Chinese and English

    Top Candidates Will Also Have:  

    • Prior field based or dealer facing experiences 
    • Technical knowledge or experience troubleshooting construction equipment product issues
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and on complex assignments across a large territory

    Additional Details:  

    • The role requires the ability to travel 50% mostly within Africa, Middle-East and Eurasia region.
