The Role

We are looking for an experienced AWS Platform Architect for the Johannesburg and Cape Town regions. As an AWS Platform Architect, you will play a critical role in helping reshape core banking platform servicing thousands of employees and clients by bringing the most innovative and sophisticated banking products to market, via a modern cloud-based architecture, all while working in a highly collaborative agile engineering environment.

We are looking for a change agent that will play a critical role moving our technology and business forward, while providing leadership of cross functional teams that will unlock positive business outcomes.

Skills And Experience

• Expert knowledge of agile development methodologies.
• Display strong thought leadership in pursuit of modern architecture principles and technology modernization.
• Ability to assess rapidly changing technologies and apply them to business needs.
• Experience in messaging platforms, protocols, and techniques such as Kafka, and event sourcing.
• Experience with Event based application architecture and design.
• Experience deploying applications in cloud-based platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP. AWS is preferred.
• Experience with AWS services such as S3, RDS, DynomoDB, EC2, and Lambda preferred.
• Experience in Service Orchestration e.g. AWS Step Functions.
• Experience in authentication & Identity technologies -Azure AD, Entersetk, Auth0.
• Experience in a wide variety of data storage technologies.
• Experience with gathering end user requirements and writing technical documentation leveraging frameworks
• Experience leveraging various well architected frameworks to drive architecture runways.
• Time management and multitasking skills to effectively meet challenging deadlines.
• Ability to suggest innovative solutions based on new technologies and latest trends
• Understanding of data security and data access controls and design aspects.

Key Accountabilities

• Partner with business leadership to identify problems, and opportunities for technological innovation.
• Help establish a clear, consistent technology vision through collaboration, influence, and enablement.
• Research, recommend, design, and develop the north star architecture for the platform.
• Shape enterprise architecture design patterns, design principles and best practices enhancing platform delivery.
• Drive culture of standardization and architecture transformation.
• Lead technology proof of concepts and benchmarks to ensure feasibility of architecture platform solutions.
• Tailor communication and convey complex ideas in a concise manner to a diverse set of audiences and venues.
• Accelerate delivery by forming a network of positive relationships with vendors, and other influencers within the enterprise and beyond.
• Mentor architects, engineers, and senior leadership alike. Inspire and lead senior technical individual contributors.
• Stay informed on initiatives across the industry and the enterprise to help product owners and IT leadership effectively prioritize the platform vision.

The Role

We have an opportunity for a Senior Solutions Architect in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

The Solution Architect primarily works with the product owner team by providing business process alignment and technical leadership to craft a solution that is fit for purpose from a business perspective. Consequently, they focus their attention on both smaller and large facet of the solution to make sure that it engineered and fit the operate model.

Key Accountabilities

Compliance

• Ensures delivery fits within the guidelines laid down by the enterprise / solution practice architects and is in compliance with the IT strategy.
• Oversees the implementation of new solutions to ensure they adhere to the signed off solution architecture designs.

Financial Control

• Understands the fiscal components of a solution to ensure it satisfies the commercial requirements of the business and is sustainable, adaptable and practical within the RUN model.
