    Data & Analytics Engineer (12-Months Contract)

    • Our client, a leading financial services organisation, is seeking an experienced Data & Analytics Engineer to join their team on a 12-month contract.
    • The successful candidate will design, build and maintain data models and data pipelines, translate business requirements into effective data solutions, ensure data quality and governance, optimise performance, and support self-service data capabilities. The role will also involve collaborating with Data Engineers, Data Architects, Data Modelers and business stakeholders, while mentoring junior team members.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design and maintain scalable data models, schemas and data architectures.
    • Translate business requirements into data products, data flows, contracts and acceptance criteria.
    • Build, automate, monitor and optimise data pipelines across multiple data sources.
    • Perform data testing, profiling, validation and reconciliation to ensure data quality and integrity.
    • Develop and maintain APIs in collaboration with Data and Software Engineers.
    • Implement data lineage, metadata and governance across the data lifecycle.
    • Support self-service data and improve user access to trusted, governed data.
    • Ensure solutions align with Data Management frameworks, standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Apply Relational, Dimensional, Data Vault and Object-Oriented modelling principles.
    • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to deliver effective data solutions.
    • Mentor and provide guidance to junior Analytics Engineers.

    Essential Requirements

    • 3–6 years' experience in Data Analytics, Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering or a related field.
    • Experience supervising, mentoring or guiding junior team members.

    Senior Java Developer – Spring Boot, Microservices & Azure (12-Months Contract)

    • DeARX is looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer to join a leading financial services technology environment in Sandton on an initial 12-month contract.
    • This is an opportunity for a hands-on Java engineer to work on enterprise-scale, high-volume applications, contributing across the full software development lifecycle—from technical design and development through testing, deployment, optimisation and production support.
    • You'll work within an Agile technology environment alongside experienced technical and delivery teams, with the opportunity to work across modern Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, Cloud, Kubernetes and DevOps technologies.

    What You'll Be Doing

    • Design, develop, test, deploy and support high-quality Java applications.
    • Build and enhance scalable Spring Boot, Spring, JPA and Hibernate solutions.
    • Work within Microservices and SOA architectures and develop enterprise APIs and integrations.
    • Take ownership of deliverables from technical design through development, testing, deployment and production support.
    • Develop secure and reliable integrations using REST, SOAP, JSON, XML and messaging technologies.
    • Contribute to automated CI/CD and DevOps pipelines and continuous delivery practices.
    • Perform unit testing, code reviews, troubleshooting and performance optimisation.

    What We're Looking For

    • We're looking for a developer who is genuinely hands-on, analytical and technically curious, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of complex technical problems.

    You should have:

    • 5+ years' professional software development experience, with strong Java experience.
    • Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
    • Solid experience with JPA and Hibernate and ideally Micronaut.
    • Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Design and software engineering principles.
    • Experience building Microservices and/or SOA-based solutions.
    • Strong API and integration experience across REST and SOAP.
    • Experience with application security including JWT and SSL/TLS.
    • Experience working with relational databases such as SQL/DB2 and exposure to NoSQL technologies such as MongoDB or Cassandra.
    • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes and exposure to Azure and/or AWS.
    • Strong understanding of CI/CD, DevOps and deployment automation.
    • Experience with Git, Maven and code-quality tools such as SonarQube.
    • Experience working with enterprise application environments and production systems.
    • Experience with application performance monitoring, troubleshooting and optimisation.
    • Practical understanding of high-volume systems, including scalability, clustering, concurrency and performance.
    • Experience working in Agile environments, including Scrum, Kanban and/or SAFe.
