ROLE PURPOSE

• The purpose of the role is to plan and manage the delivery and installation of satellite and VSAT services across the operational footprint of Liquid Telecom Satellite Services. 

RESPONSIBLILITIES INCLUDE:

Installation Management

• Advise on corrective measures and process to meet reliability and quality parameters.
• Planning and managing assigned satellite terminal installations projects.
• Arrange all shipping documents with export and import rules and regulations.
• Ensuring that Installations teams adequately prepare sites, equipment and material for installations.   

Maintenance

• Ensuring escalation processes are followed on all incidents and requests.
• Ensuring that the Installation teams adhere to all relevant safety policies and procedures.
• Plan and arrange the release of relevant spares for troubleshooting prior to team going to site.
• Dispatch contractor based on location and spare availability to attend to site (Service Level Agreements and repair arrangements apply).
• Constant communication and feedback with customers, account managers and site contact.
• Clear faults with Service Operating Centre.

VSAT Administration

• Manage invoicing and shipping clearance.
• Creates invoice for shipping
• Ensuring the safe transportation of Installations Teams, equipment and material to sites. The issuing of work instructions to Installation Teams and subsequent monitoring of such work.
• Obtain quotations for installations in South Africa and abroad. Generate motivations, purchase orders etc
• Check and verify equipment received from suppliers.

Weekly Reporting & Scheduling

• The key deliverable is to provide weekly updates in the form of reports and feedback as well as a short breakdown of upcoming planned work.

REQUIREMENTS

• National Diploma – Electrical Engineering essential, Project Management Certification advantageous
• Minimum 3 years' Service Delivery experience in Telecommunications Industry, preferably in the Satellite environment

ROLE PURPOSE

• Support the SCC Technician and Manager roles in maintaining quality satellite services provided by Liquid Telecom. 

To accomplish this, the role has the following responsibilities:

• Use of management systems to monitor service availability through Liquid’s teleport and network infrastructure and 3rd party networks. With the aim of providing pro-active and re-active fault identification, 1st and 2nd level support and/or escalation to Liquid’s network or regional support teams and Managers as required.
• Assist and collaborate with Liquid’s network or regional support teams and suppliers in resolving faults impacting satellite services.
• Technical direct customer contact to provide resolution and/or updates to customer’s service problems and queries. Accomplished through telephone calls, email with all details of correspondence and fault progression recorded within the fault ticketing system.
• Assist with the installation, configuration and commissioning of existing and new teleport systems to manufacturers specifications.
• Conduct site visits to customer premises or remote Liquid locations for fault investigations, training and service demonstrations.
• Carry out and develop the following via feedback to the Managers and Platform Engineers:
• New satellite service configuration and implementation
• Routine SCC duties and maintenance
• Service and system performance reports
• Service diagrams and supporting documentation
• Planned maintenance notifications

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

• Relevant graduate qualification (National Diploma or Degree in Engineering or appropriate NQF level qualification)
• 5 years' Telecommunications experience
• Excellent understanding of Satellite principles, IP networking principles and iDirect and or Dialog VSAT hub systems
• Understanding of Microsoft and Linux operating systems
• Proficient in use of test and measurement equipment for fault investigation
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English is mandatory
