    Welder

    • We are looking for a committed individual to join our team as a Welder. 
    • The role will report into the Fabrication Manager.  The role will be based from our offices in Spartan, Kempton Park, Johannesburg.

    Purpose of the role:

    • Perform manufacturing operations to accurately tack and weld steel, stainless and  aluminium  in accordance with welding codes and specifications and Institution of Boilermakers and Supervisors.

    The job responsibilities:

    • Responsible to operate welding machine and set according to required volts and amps depending on thickness of material and ranges specified on welding specification.
    • Responsible to read and interpret instructions from Boilermaker and execute task according to specification.
    • Responsible to check weld preparation joints and root gaps accordance to requirements prior commencing with welding.
    • Responsible to ensure the necessary stiffeners are inserted to control distortion.
    • Responsible to correctly apply the welding gauge to measure weld sizes.
    • Responsible to replace welding rod or wire on machine in accordance with welding specifications.
    • Tack and weld steel, stainless steel and aluminium in accordance with welding codes and specifications and sub-assemblies to proper configuration and tolerance.
    • Fit, tack and weld sub-assemblies and ensure that welding of lengths is continuous on a bend without stop/start actions.
    • Responsible to check the quality of the completed welds by visual inspecting the welds for any surface cracks, undercuts, pin holes, wormholes, porosity, overlaps, concavity and to repair where necessary and in accordance with welders check sheet.
    • Responsible to do back-grind on welding where necessary.
    • Responsible to operate overhead cranes within the safety parameters.
    • Responsible to stay within the allowable hours per job given by the Foreman and to put steps in place to mitigate any over run on hours due to breakdowns or other work stoppages.
    • Responsible to take care of all welding equipment issued and used by you.
    • Responsible to maintain good housekeeping in your work areas on a continuous basis.
    • Responsible to coach and develop or otherwise help others in working environment.
    • Responsible to operate within the health and safety requirements prescribed by Sandvik and OHS Act and to report any accident, injury or near miss that could have resulted in an accident to the Foreman.

    Qualifications & Experience Requirements

    • Grade 12 /Matric Certificate or equivalent
    • A completed welder qualification (Trade Test) at a reputable institution.
    • Completed Welder Apprenticeship.
    • Substantial experience within a metal component manufacturing environment.

    Other Requirements & Competencies

    • Ability to understand basic engineering processing and information.
    • Good understanding of how parts are made.
    • Ability to read and understand instructions from Boilermaker.
    • Ability to operate an overhead crane and power tools.
    • Knowledge of various welding processes: MIG, TIG and SMAW
    • Basic understanding of vibrating equipment.

    Drives Mechanical Assembly Fitter

    • We are looking for a committed individual to join our team as a Mechanical Assembly Fitter. 
    • The role will report into the Drives Manager.  The role will be based from our offices in Spartan, Kempton Park, Johannesburg.

    Purpose of the role:

    • To perform manufacturing operations in assembling, testing, assessing, stripping, cleaning and repairing of vibratory equipment.

    The job responsibilities:

    • To meet daily output targets.
    • Daily progress reports.
    • Daily report of component requirements.
    • Continuous monitoring of quality of parts and reporting of any defects.
    • Good housekeeping skills related to work environment, tools and equipment.
    • Responsible of assembly / testing and recording data of all vibrating equipment, to the highest standard.
    • Responsible of stripping, inspecting and recording data of all vibrating equipment
    • Maintenance of equipment according to quality control standards.
    • Effective management of assets.
    • Performing of installations, commissioning and service duties, on/off-site.
    • Suggest and implement assembly, stripping or testing improvements.
    • Ability to compile written technical reports.
    • Assessing incoming spares and components (old and new).
    • Use speciality tools for assessment purposes e.g., micrometres.

    • Responsible to maintain good housekeeping in your work areas on a continuous basis.
    • Responsible to provide guidance and expert advice to co-workers on technical related topics.
    • Responsible to coach and develop or otherwise help others in working environment.
    • Responsible to operate within the health and safety requirements prescribed by Kwatani and OHS Act and to report any accident, injury or near miss that could have resulted in an accident to your Manager.
    • Responsible to operate overhead cranes within the safety parameters.
    • Responsible to operate Forklift within the safety parameters.
    • Responsible to apply different identification colours to all vibrating equipment.

    Qualifications & Experience Requirements

    • Grade 12 /Matric Certificate or equivalent
    • Completed Fitter Trade Test
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an assembly environment.
    • Specific experience on plant / heavy equipment gearboxes.

    Trainee Skills Analyst

    The Role

    Continuous Improvement Specialist – P3

    The Role:

    • To analyse, and improve maintain the organizational performance for Workshops and Technical Service systems and processes by implementing and maintaining efficient working protocols such as lean manufacturing, 5S, Kan Ban etc.

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Develop and optimize SOPs and technical problem-solving methods to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve safety, quality, and productivity in workshops and technical services.
