    Back End JavaScript Engineer (Senior)

    Job description

    We're looking for a Back End Engineer who will be focused on building the API driven backend for our core systems.

    Role and Responsibilities

    • Be part of the team working and building on our core insurance platform
    • Expand on our existing NodeJS-driven APIs and create new ones as our product suite and third-party integrations expand.
    • Help decide and plan which features we will build, and how they are architected and implemented.
    • You will work closely with your team, which includes other software engineers, QA’s, product managers, our designers as well as members of the broader Sanlam Indie team.
    • Testing your work, with as much automation as is useful.
    • Making sure the code you’ve created can work in an AWS (containerised) environment.

    • Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about writing well-tested applications

    Software Tester / QA

    Job description

    Job requirements

    Role and Responsibilities

    • Working closely with our QA lead to design, maintain, and execute test cases
    • Define and communicate corrective actions for failed tests
    • Review system and feature requirements and apply best testing best practices
    • Participate in functional and technical design sessions to ensure QA is part of the design considerations
    • Document and report on testing activities
    • Interact with the product, actuarial and operations team to resolve issues that arise during planning, testing and other product phases.
    • Test planning and test progress reporting (including the management of all errors during the testing phase).
    • Analysis and resolution of staging and production systems and values errors
    • Assist with testing automation across multiple platforms
    • Assist with financial impact testing of our underwriting and policy administration systems

    Our Ideal Candidate

    • Minimum 3-5 years QA and software testing experience
    • ISTQB Certified (minimum Foundation level) or similar
    • Experience in web and mobile testing
    • Experience with test automation frameworks desirable
    • Experience with our underlying technology stack would be an advantage (Node.js & React.js)
    • A fast learner, with a passion for keeping track of the details that matter
    • A creative problem solver
    • Ability to communicate well with both technical and non-technical staff
    • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processes
    • Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases
    • Experience with using test management or bug management tools
    • Experience with performance and/or security testing is a plus.

    Full Stack - JavaScript Engineer

    • You’re a thinker and can contribute to problem-solving design-oriented user experience issues.
    • You have experience writing tests for JSON APIs
    • You have experience in helping other developers improve the quality of their output and technical solutions.
    • Experience integrating with third-party APIs and Web Services

    Product Manager - Customer Acquisition

    Job requirements

    The Role

    • You will be primarily responsible for our acquisition products and processes which include our website, lead generation tools, our Leads API and leads management tools and our distribution partnerships.
    • You and our acquisition product team will work closely with our marketing and distribution teams to generate and manage the acquisition of new customers through multiple channels including partners, lead providers and digital marketing.
    • You will need to balance improving the reliability and effectiveness of the existing products and systems as well as working on new ideas to grow the Indie business.
    • You will work closely with our other product managers to help build out our product vision. 

    Responsibilities 

    • Play an active role in defining the future product and business growth of Indie.
    • Own and drive the execution of your team's product roadmap with both internal and external teams.
    • Delve deep into the requirements of our products and do the hard work to document and communicate to your team what is needed to fulfil our product vision.
    • Understand the requirements and needs of customers, partners and lead providers to ensure we are building the right things.
    • Work extensively with external partners for systems and process integrations.
    • Contribute to conversations around deadlines and engineering solutions.

    Our Ideal Candidate

    • A diploma/degree
    • Domain knowledge of insurance and lead generation 
    • Experience in marketing campaign management a bonus
    • A passion for writing and effective communication
    • Experience with making complex product requirements digestible and actionable
    • A fast learner, with a passion for keeping track of the details that matter
    • Proven ability to independently manage multiple workstreams
    • A willingness to extend yourself and assist other team members
    • A natural ability to empathise, listen and understand complex situations
