    Insurance Consultant (10)(Cape Town, Bellville)

    This role is focused on, but not limited to; 

    • Contribution to the net profit and growth targets for business.
    • Delivering exceptional service that exceeds customers’ expectations through proactive, innovative, and appropriate solutions. 
    • Providing telephonic / email support to the intermediary on record, authorised representatives from the brokerage, and broker services.
    • Analysing the request from the intermediary and providing a quotation to secure the business (conversion). 
    • Initiating out dials to intermediaries to discuss quotations and / or convert policies.
    • New business issuance. 
    • Assisting to resolve all insurance queries within required timeframe and compliance requirements.
    • Managing client expectation on expected turnaround times for submitted requests;
    • Adhering to underwriting criteria and regional requirements.
    • Assist with profiling the client with the best suitable product and underwriting criteria;
    • Assisting in implementing solutions for improvement.
    • Adhering to workforce management principles to ensure that we optimize productivity.
    • Prioritise own workflow and ensure work in completed to the required standards of productivity, quality, and timelines; use performance manage systems to improve personal performance. Ensuring that business targets are met.
    • Standing in for consultants should they be absent or on leave during busy periods or absence of key resources, assisting where required. Ensuring that business targets are met.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Matric / Grade 12
    • 60 FAIS credits - Commercial lines
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Short Term Insurance - Commercial Lines
    • Proven work experience in commercial underwriting within the short-term insurance industry
    • A relevant insurance related qualification (e.g., NQF level 4) would be advantageous 
    • Preferable work experience in agriculture would be advantageous

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Use of clear and effective verbal communication skills to request information and correspond with intermediaries.

    Policy Wording and Technical Underwriting Specialist

    What will make you successful in this role?

    • The purpose of the role is to support Personal Lines and Outsourced Business:
    • The incumbent will be responsible and accountable for compiling, updating, reviewing and maintaining of policy wordings, endorsements, addendums, terms, conditions, PPR/ Disclosure notices etc.
    • Responsible to give sound claims and personal lines underwriting advice both from a legal and underwriting perspective.
    • Responsible for adherence to all regulatory requirements within the Personal Lines Underwriting
    • Integrate and update existing Underwriting manuals/policies, operational manuals and underwriting guidelines, etc 
    • Create new underwriting guidelines and procedures if required.
    • Assist in formulating and sign-off of underwriting circulars and media articles.
    • Analysis, interpretation, review, recommend and communicate policy wording / endorsement changes to Binderholders / relevant stakeholders
    • Assist with product changes and associated projects 
    • Alignment of product changes to that of policy wordings, endorsements etc. 
    • Drive implementation and monitor results thereof.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Min of 8 years’ experience in Short Term insurance - Personal Lines
    • Report writing experience
    • Strong Technical product underwriting knowledge and proficiency – Personal Lines
    • Understanding of Risk management
    • Degree in Insurance & Risk Management or similar disciplines would be an advantage.
    • Computer literate (extensive experience of Excel, Word, Acrobat Pro and PowerPoint)
    • Knowledge of the short term insurance legal framework

    Operations Manager: Non-Motor Desktop

    WHAT WILL YOU DO?

    • This position is responsible for providing strategic and operational direction to optimize and manage the end –to- end non-motor desktop claims value chain within the Santam Commercial and Personal Non-Motor Claims division. As well as achieve superior claims outcomes through effective workforce/talent management, claims quality and service delivery, and the use of technology and data analytics.     • Actively develop and engage claims employees to ensure optimal work environment. Focus staff on continuous improvement, looking for ways to build capabilities and drive organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Preparing and distributing management reports analysing and documenting department operations and performance; identifies, analyses, and reports on claims trends in the property insurance claims industry and within the profit centres that the department supports.
    • Reviewing and approving claims, within assigned authority limits, appropriately refers expenses and settlements that exceed authority limits for approval.
    • Monitoring and evaluating the claims reserve practices within the department and ensure that actual reserves are accurate and established promptly.
    • Responsible for implementing effective processes with the aim of minimizing the risk to the company. 
    • Ensuring compliance to company policies in processing transactions performed at the Non Motor Desktop.
    • Meeting the prescribed client experience and satisfaction scores.
    • Maintaining and developing the national footprint of the Non Motor Desktop (National role players:  Brokers, Clients, Service Providers, and Assessment Branches). 
    • Focusing on optimising client centricity within the department and ensuring adherence to claims policy and philosophy.
    • Managing the department’s finances and identifying Cost saving opportunities by evaluating Direction of Spend and liaising with different divisions (i.e. Procurement) to optimise partnerships.  
    • Managing and coordinating the day to day operations of the Non-Motor Desktop department.
    • Organising, communicating and interacting effectively with people of all levels.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Matric Grade 12
    • Relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalence
    • Short-term insurance qualification 
    • Minimum 7+ years’ experience in the short-term insurance industry of progressively more responsible related work experience, some of which in a management capacity. 
    • At least 5 years of experience in a management role.
    • Extensive experience with intermediary and service provider relationships and engagement.

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

    • Advanced knowledge of property insurance, claims investigation, coverage evaluation, loss assessment (both physical damage and financial loss), reserving, insurance legal & regulatory environment, claims processes, applications/systems and procedures, and finance.
    • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong partnerships,
    • Think analytically and critically,
    • Identify and prioritize high impact opportunities,
    • Set direction and create alignment,
