    FinOps Engineer

    CAREER OPPRUNITY

    • The  Core Platforms Applications and User Experience in Santam Technology Services department (STS) has an opportunity for a FinOps Engineer who will be based in the Western Cape or Gauteng. 

    WHAT WILL YOU DO

    • Technical support of Guidewire Suite and Thunderhead technology (includes usage of hardware, software, databases, and the management and support thereof - including upgrades, resolving vulnerabilities and understanding and driving software patching)
    • Administration of infrastructure deployment, technical support processes, support procedures, deployments & releases, servers, nodes, databases, etc.
    • Monitoring and management of hardware & software resource performance (CPU, Memory, Disk I/O, etc.)  across all environments
    • Installation of software (from operating systems through to applications) across non-production environments while liaising with GTI for formal or production environments
    • Support patching and vulnerability management of servers across all environments

    WHAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE

    • Delivering real-time visibility into cloud spend and usage trends.
    • Implementing governance frameworks supporting Santam’s Cloud Operating Model.
    • Partnering with Shared Services Finance to ensure financial compliance.
    • Guiding platform teams to improve cloud efficiency and budget alignment.
    • Embedding FinOps culture across Santam’s cloud ecosystem.

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance or equivalent.
    • 6–8 years’ experience in cloud financial management or FinOps.
    • 5+ years working with cloud cost structures, billing, tagging, and SaaS financial models.
    • FinOps or cloud certifications advantageous.

    • Strong analytical skills and financial acumen.
    • Deep understanding of cloud and SaaS pricing models.
    • Deep technical understanding of various cloud services and associated business 
      value.

    Claims Specialist

    What will you do?

    • We have an exciting opportunity available for Claims Specialist within Santam Specialist Solutions.

    What will make you successful in this role?

    Key responsibilities:

    Claims Practice Management:

    • Attend and manage all aspects related to a portfolio of specialist claims such as claims registration, case management, drafting, diary, recoveries, and settlement negotiations.
    • Draft settlement agreements and other legal documents within mandate as per the Claims Governance Folder.
    • Strategically manage a portfolio of claims.
    • Manage loss adjusters and attorneys appointment on matters and ensure compliance with agreed service level agreements.
    • Monitor and manage legal spend of attorneys and loss adjusters.
    • Manage system processing and compliance with systems by way of payments, updating signed off reserves, proper recordal of information etc.
    • Attend to Operational duties as allocated
    • Compile and manage risk reports when required
    • Actively manage and record claims above certain thresholds as per The Claims Governance Folder and report on matters to Claims Co and Executive where required.
    • Comply with internal and external regulatory framework and internal and external processes and procedures in accordance with organisational standards.
    • Draft processes and procedures that are compliant with relevant regulatory framework and applicable legislation.
    • Effectively liaise and interact with Underwriters.

    Analysis:

    • Consider, analyse and interpret insurance policy and the contractual impact thereof for the determination of coverage;
    • Critically analyse the facts of the matter and their impact on the underlying policy.
    • Draft opinions on the interpretation of coverage in relation to the facts and the applicable policy, present and motivate;
    • Draft opinions on merits and quantum of matter with the relevant caselaw and legislation applicable;
    • Apply critical thinking to ensure appropriate decisions on merits, quantum and policy response.
    • Critically consider and evaluate information provided and identify information required.
    • Conduct a strategic assessment of claims and make strategic decisions and recommendations on handling of claims.
    • Develop and maintain an understanding of technical and legal aspects impacting on the policy’s operation.
    • Make representations and recommendations on improved wording and trends identification to underwriters

    Individual Claims Leadership:

    • Be involved in continuous training and development in respect of Case Law, Policy wording, etc.
    • Assist in identifying and developing SOP’s and processes to ensure claims department effectiveness.
    • Take initiative in creating opportunities of interaction with Brokers and Insureds.

    Client Liaison (Internal and External):

    • Liaise with clients to resolve queries to the satisfaction of the affected parties within the scope of authority and / or responsibility.
    • Prepare for and attend meetings and consultation with brokers, insureds, legal representatives and loss adjusters.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Previous non-motor liability claims handling experience

    Product Analyst (Johannesburg)(JG08)

    What will you do?

    • Responsible for the design of products of medium complexity. The incumbent is involved in market research, then conducts a business viability study before the final product design is finalised.
    • Project management competencies are essential. Ensures that all new and existing product formulations and processes are and remain cost effective and consumer-relevant.
    • Keeps up to date with and ensures compliance of products to relevant legislation. Keeps up to date with developments in technology and recommends product/process improvements.

    • We have an exciting opportunity for a suitable candidate to perform the role of Product Analyst.  This role is based in Sandton, Johannesburg and will form part of our Strategic Partnerships team.

    PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE: 

    • The Product Analyst role will be responsible for sourcing and analysing market trends within partners and aligning those to insurance, customer needs, product monitoring (performance and governance reporting), product improvements and customer value proposition.

    • Assist in designing and refining insurance products for personal and commercial lines.
    • Support pricing and underwriting strategies through actuarial and market analysis.
