    Artisan Diesel Mechanic SF

    Job Purpose:

    • To maintain, install and commission of the machinery and equipment to an agreed standard in the area of responsibility

    • NQF 4 (National Senior Certificate / Grade 12 or equivalent) ; or Trade Specific N2

    Job Purpose:

    Job Purpose:

    • To perform planned and general maintenance at the shafts and equipment. Inspect repairs, replaces, installs and maintains all mechanical components.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Engineering Fitter  Do pre and post assessments of equipment sent for repairs: pumps, locos and loaders  Providing and maintaining a safe environment for all employees by ensuring full compliance to the Health and Safety regulations  Completing daily registers and job cards  Perform breakdown maintenance.  Perform tool changeovers on hydraulic presses  Inspect, service, repair, and overhaul machinery.

    Miner Stoping

    Job Purpose:

    • The MINER is accountable for the safe opening up of ore reserves through face blasting and extracting ore from underground working areas. This includes meeting production targets by the safe blasting of underground excavations on the stoping horizon, including the development waste and reef footprin

    • The Miner is accountable for development ends or panel blasting while assisting and supporting the team in the safe execution of mining.     Mine Overseer

    Job Purpose:

    • To manage the Mining Sections’ teams, systems and processes in order to achieve operational objectives in a safe and efficient manner and in line with legislative requirements.

    The Appointee should:

    • NQF 4 National Senior Certificate or Equivalent

    • Mine Overseer Certificate
    • At least 5 year experience as a Producation Supervisor (Graduates minimum 2 years)

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Mining Risk Management  Contribute to the management of risk within own field of expertise.  Assess Mining risks and incorporate mitigating controls.  Maintain and update the Mining component of the risk register. Mining Management  Manage the Mining Section teams, systems and processes.  Analyse, interpret Mining data, reports, and take corrective actions as required.  Provide effective problem solving support to the Mining teams.  Participate in the daily Mining meeting  Plan and manage Mining resources (personnel, equipment and materials) as required  Maintain and update the Shaft schedule  Design and plan underground layouts

Tramming  Manage the Tramming team and activities and plan Tramming activities and targets. Secondary Blasting  Manage Secondary Blasting team and processes. Maintenance  Manage underground maintenance activities. Blasting  Initiate blasts and authorise re-entry to blasted section after observing the prescribed re-entry period. Removal of Brocken Rock (Cleaning & Sweeping)  Plan the location of winches.
    • Underground Operations Projects  Identify Underground Operations improvement opportunities.  Implement Underground Operations improvement projects and initiatives.  Supervise a project team of an Underground Operations project to deliver project objectives.  Contribute to the management of project risk within own field of expertise.  Develop a simple schedule to facilitate effective project execution.  Monitor, evaluate and communicate simple project schedules.

    Laboratory Technician SR

    Job Purpose:

    • To ensure safe and efficient preparation and analysis of samples and reporting of results to contribute towards the achievement of laboratory objectives and goals.

    The Appointee should:

    • NQF 6 (Diploma or Advanced Certificate) in Chemistry
    • At least 3 years’ experience in a laboratory environment

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Materials & Equipment  Capture material transactions on the Metal Accounting Transaction System.  Conduct first line maintenance on instrumentation and equipment.  Handle gas cylinders in the laboratory environment. Sample Preparation  Collect scrubber samples.  Crush, pulverise and grind material by recommended methods (i.e. jaw crusher, vertical spindle mill, batch mill, ball mill, ring mill etc.)  Determine physical properties of materials (i.e. bulk density, etc.).  Dry materials for analytical purposes.  Reduce bulk and particle size of dry solid samples.  Determine the particle size distribution of samples by means of the sieving technique and/or a particle size analyser.  Prepare samples (includes dissolving solid samples) for analysis.  Prepare beads/briquettes for quantitative analysis by means of X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometry.  Capture sample data. Analysis  Perform physical analysis of materials (moisture, density, TDS, TSS, etc.).  Perform Wet Chemical analysis and analysis using volumetric equipment.  Quantify analyte concentrations in prepared samples by means of Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES).  Perform analysis on ICP-MS instrumentation.  Perform analysis and quantify analyte concentration by means of X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF)Spectrometry.  Perform analysis on Leco, SAFT, SKALAR, IC and AA instrumentation  Determine the pH of liquids by means of a pH meter.  Capture sample data.  Determine the conductance of liquids by means of a conductivity meter.  Determine water quality parameters (conductivity, PH, temperature, dissolved oxygen etc.)
    • Reagents & Standards  Prepare reagents.  Measure QC standards according for all relevant methods and reports results where necessary.  Take corrective action when QCs are out of limits or reports anomalies to responsible person.
