    Shop Assistant - East Rand Mall - Boksburg ( 3 Months Contract )

    Job Description

    • Create a welcoming, inspirational, and personalised experience for customers
    • Actively support and contribute to the achievement of all store targets and operational standards
    • Ensure full understanding and knowledge of the sales targets and the contribution of the relevant area to meet these targets including average spend per head, required increase in basket size and link selling
    • Attend and participate in morning team meetings, and raise any queries with Store Supervisor
    • Prepare for and participate in daily floor walks and raise any ideas, queries, or concerns with the Store Supervisor
    • Assist with the preparations for and participate in all stock takes.
    • Conduct cycle counts as and when required and report any areas of concern to the Store Supervisor
    • Prevent damages by housing products on the sales floor and in the stockroom as per stock handling and storage standards
    • Practice accurate stock rotation and follow the FIFO principle ensuring that only up to date and accurate stock is displayed
    • Report all stock requirements, out of stocks or low stock levels to the Store Supervisor.
    • Ensure all stock on the sales floor and in the stockroom is maintained in a clean and hygienic condition.
    • Ensure all departments of responsibility are fully replenished, and housekeeping is maintained including but not limited to swept floors, shelves dusted, and all testers have been cleaned/wiped daily or as an when necessary
    • Consistently implement and maintain all store visual merchandising standards and disciplines to create a beautiful store experience
    • Ensure all store standards and operations procedures are implemented and adhered to
    • Be familiar with the contents of the Model Store files as per operational requirements
    • Adhere to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to Point of Sale, Cash Handling, Banking and Staff Uniform Policies
    • Ensure that point of sale and banking procedures are adhered to and raise any areas of concern with the Store Supervisor
    • Contribute to the store achieving the minimum acceptable Operations Checklist rating by ensuring areas of responsibility are maintained at the required standard on a consistent basis.
    • Be familiar with all information posted on the notice board and raise any outdated information or lack of information with the Store Supervisor
    • Offer every customer Loyalty Card membership and provide details of the benefits of the card
    • Explain all current promotions, discounts, and special offers on offer to all customers
    • Focus on the average basket size by ensuring that all customers have been greeted, new line items have been offered and explained, a basket has been offered, and link sell opportunities have been made
    • Perform all make overs professionally and record customers details and the products used as per process
    • Utilise testers to effectively introduce customers to the product range.
    • Respond to all customer requests, comments and complaints and escalate when required
    • Implement monthly promotions according to the instructions with the relevant signage and display material used to highlight promotions to increase sales, e.g., posters, shelf talkers, Perspex stands, A4 stands riser cards.
    • Action all pricing, including Mark Up’s and Mark Downs and promotions in area of responsibility
    • Support all marketing initiatives including but not limited to Sidewalk sales, Centre Court space, and Pop-Up Stores
    • Raise the need to order required stationary, staff refreshments, cleaning materials and other consumables timeously with the Store Supervisor
    • Adhere to the staff schedule and ensure area of responsibility is covered at all times utilising the buddy-buddy system
    • Attend and participate in all scheduled training, and transfer new knowledge and skills to daily activities performed
    • Raise any gaps in product knowledge with the Store Supervisor
    • Assist with the induction and training of all new employees
    • Raise any breach of procedure, breach of policy or any other concern with either the Store Supervisor, Area Manager, Risk and Compliance Manager or confidentially contact Whistle-blowers

    Requirements

    Risk and Compliance Officer - Head Office - Edenvale

    Job Description
    RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Enforce and monitor compliance with all company policies and procedures and report all incidences of non-compliance and deviations to the line manager
    • Ensure that all risk management procedures are implemented in allocated business areas
    • Ensure that retail outlets in allocated business areas are secured and protected against known risk.
    • Provide advice and input to security measures required to protect company assets and reduce risk.
    • Assist with all risk related training in allocated business areas in support of effective risk management
    • Identify all high-risk, high turnover, and/or high shrinkage retail outlets in allocated business areas, submit recommendations and ensure that the allocated security systems, including but not limited to overt and covert CCTV and alarms are operational and monitored
    • Manage all CCTV cameras in allocated business areas and ensure alarms are effectively maintained and fully operational.
    • Investigate all alarm activations in allocated business areas and report any areas of concern to the line manager
    • Investigate all cases of theft, fraud, POS system breaches in allocated business areas and compile case file for possible enquiry.
    • Ensure that all shrinkage control measures are in place and implemented in the retail outlets in allocated business areas to reduce shrinkage and damages.
    • Manage and adhere to risk and compliance Audit schedules for all business areas.
    • Assist with Risk Assessment documents providing detailed feedback on non-compliance, actions required and taken to meet required standards.
    • Conduct audits and investigations and compile evidence case files
    • Investigation all stock discrepancies in allocated business areas when requested to do so by the line manager
    • Compile a monthly risk management report for allocated business areas inclusive of areas of non-compliance and actions required
    • Work hand in hand with all Area Managers and National Operations Manager in allocated business areas to address relevant concerns arising from retail outlets.
    • Provide input to the Shrinkage Awareness Programme and Health and Safety Committee
    • Ensure that employees have knowledge of the Shrinkage Awareness Programme and that it is implemented in all allocated business areas
    • Conduct a follow up audit on all retail outlets in the allocated business areas where audits findings did not meet the required standards.
    • Highlight fraudulent activities and trends in store processes and systems, investigate and provide feedback to line manager
    • Assist with stores OHS Risk Assessments in allocated business areas as and when required.
    • Create awareness of all Health and Safety Regulations and highlight any areas of non-compliance with the line manager.
    • Provide accurate statistics, trend analysis, advice, and recommendations on all risk and compliance matters.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Grade 12 or equivalent required
    • Degree or Diploma in Risk Management, Security, or related qualification is a requirement
    • Postgraduate Diploma in Risk Management is an advantage
    • Safety Management Training Course (SAMTRAC) Certificate an advantage
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a risk management or similar role
    • Have a valid driver’s license with 3 years or more driving experience
    • Experience in the retail environment is required

    • Working knowledge of business intelligence tools such as Power BI or similar platforms, with the ability to create, refresh, and interpret basic dashboards and reports.
    • Exposure to AI-assisted tools (e.g. ChatGPT or similar) to support analysis, reporting, or productivity, with a willingness to learn and adopt new technologies.

    Building Maintenance Officer - Head Office - Edenvale

    • To provide technical and administrative support to ensure timeous, cost-effective, and compliant completion of building, retail outlets and maintenance projects and tasks.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    What are you responsible for doing?

    • Perform quality inspections on work performed by contractors, team members, and Centre Management contractors in new and revamped retail outlets
    • Review and action the Maintenance Checklist for each project and submit to line manager
    • Perform quality inspections in retail outlets to confirm that job cards have been completed to required standards
    • Ensure maintenance is carried out according to the Maintenance Plan
    • Schedule allocated store maintenance including but not limited to pest control, fire extinguisher service, aircon service, plumbing repairs, aluminium and glazing shop front repairs, in-store carpentry, ceiling repairs and replacements, smoke detector repairs and flooring repairs.
    • Complete all job cards allocated from the Maintenance Tracker
    • Perform minor maintenance tasks as and when required including traveling to retail outlets to perform allocated maintenance tasks
    • Review project plan for new retail outlets and allocate work to workshop team members
    • Monitor and address any concerns regarding attendance, performance, and productivity of the workshop team, and provide feedback to line manager
    • Supervise work teams in retail outlets and provide feedback to the line manager regarding quality of team and contractor workmanship
    • Liaise with contractors, Centre Management, service providers, and government departments
    • Obtain quotes as and when requested from the list of preferred suppliers, and forward to line manager for approval
    • Source and obtain quotations from potential new suppliers including on-site visits to verify required specifications and quality requirements
    • Complete all required documentation and council submissions accurately and submit them in a timeous manner thereby limiting potential penalties
    • Submit required council submissions, including but not limited to shop drawings and obtain Occupancy Certificates, Trading Licenses, and Fire Clearance Certificates, providing feedback to the line manager and or architects, where relevant
    • Monitor the work performed, receive Certificates of Compliance from contractors, submit copies to the Landlord and retain a colour copy for company records, on an annual basis
    • Perform property inspection of Head Office independently and together with the landlord, as per lease agreement

    REQUIREMENTS

    What theoretical knowledge (e.g., degree / diploma) does the job require?

    • Grade 12
    • Degree/Diploma in Construction Management/Project Management/SAFMA certification or relevant qualification is a requirement
    • Technical qualification inclusive of electrical, air conditioning an advantage
    • Root cause analysis is an advantage
    • Driver’s license: Code 8

     What experience (e.g., previous exposure) does the job require?

    • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in a retail/property/facilities or related environment
    • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience supervising a technical team
    • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience working with sub-contractors
    • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience communicating with government departments and Centre Management
    • Property maintenance experience required
