    Senior Manager: Hospitality

    Job Purpose

    • The Senior Manager: Hospitality contributes to the achievement of organisational objectives by providing strategic leadership and oversight of the Specialist Hospitality line of business. This role is accountable for growing the Specialist Hospitality book of business, expanding market share and maximising sustainable profitability. Responsible for the end-to-end execution of the long-term strategy, ensuring strong financial performance, effective operational management and ongoing alignment with broader business goals.

    Responsibilities

    Leadership and Direction

    • Set and clearly communicate the strategy required to achieve the vision of the Specialist Hospitality division, embedding TIH values within the function. Define and drive the key strategic actions required for successful implementation, while inspiring and leading a small, highly specialised team to commit to the strategy and consistently deliver exceptional outcomes in support of the line’s business objectives.

    Functional Strategy Formation

    • Lead the development and execution of the strategy for the Specialist Hospitality division by anticipating macro trends, emerging risks, and complex market opportunities. Ensure strategic alignment and integration with the broader business insurance strategy to support sustainable growth and competitive positioning.

    Budgeting & Costing

    • Take overall accountability for setting, managing, and delivering the Specialist Hospitality division’s budget. Continuously monitor Gross Written Premium and clients on risk against targets and actuals. Oversee the development and performance of the claims ratio, including the impact of IBNR and outstanding reported claims. Manage and monitor investments and ongoing operational costs against budget to ensure profitability and financial discipline.

    Risk Management, Reinsurance & Analysis

    • Provide oversight of risk management for the Specialist Hospitality line of business, including the ongoing review and enhancement of policy wordings to ensure relevance, compliance, and fitness for purpose. Ensure the annual renewal of reinsurance treaties and establish a formalised, structured renewal schedule across all existing business.

    Product/Service Development

    • Lead the development, enhancement and delivery of the Specialist Hospitality product suite by defining and driving the product and service roadmap and managing the associated backlog. Analyse market trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics to ensure the hospitality offering remains relevant and differentiated through continuous product development. Drive the design and launch of new products aligned to a defined target market and the company’s risk appetite statement.

    Operational Compliance

    • Ensure that all business activities within the Specialist Hospitality division comply with applicable external regulatory requirements and voluntary codes, including TCF, as well as internal policies and standards. This includes minimising business risk and protecting the organisation’s reputation through effective oversight of key operational components such as sales platforms, renewal processes, rating tools and supporting systems.

    Marketing

    • Oversee the marketing strategy for the Specialist Hospitality line of business, including advertising, lead generation, market presence initiatives, broker engagement, and ongoing support to the broker marketing channel to drive sustainable growth and brand positioning.

    Organisational Capability Building

    • Coach, mentor and develop staff supporting the Specialist Hospitality business to strengthen individual capability, build a strong talent pipeline, and support succession planning within the organisation.

    Performance Management

    • Manage and report on performance across the Specialist Hospitality division by setting clear and measurable performance objectives for direct reports and holding them accountable for delivery. Take timely and appropriate corrective action where required to ensure the achievement of annual business and financial objectives.

    Customer Relationships Development

    • Develop and implement a relationship management plan for each distribution channel, such as direct, brokers and group schemes.

    Promoting Customer Focus

    • Develop internal marketing plans and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to strengthen internal relationships within a large organisation. Build strong external customer relationships by setting, managing and continuously improving customer satisfaction measurement systems and scorecards.

    Customer Needs/Experience Research

    • Lead the research and design of Specialist Hospitality product concepts through structured customer insight approaches, including voice of the customer initiatives. Drive the execution of tools, procedures and initiatives that deepen understanding of customer segments, emerging trends, needs and expectations, and translate these insights into commercially viable product and service enhancements.

    Job Purpose

    Contract Management

    • Manage a portfolio of contracts and negotiate service level agreements. Will also plan, coordinate and supervise activities relating to major contracts.
    • Monitor the suppliers compliance with the BBBEE Act and implement remedial actions when necessary.

    Operational Compliance

    • Identify, within the team and various stakeholders, instances of non-compliance with the organisation's policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these and escalating issues as appropriate.
    • Ensure adherence to compliance standards in accordance to company procurement requirements and procedures in awarding new and existing business on an on-going basis.

    Personal Capability Building

    • Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation where relevant to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.

    Leadership and Direction

    • Explain the local action plan to support team members in their understanding of what needs to be done and how this relates to the broader business plan and the organisation's strategy, mission and vision; motivate people to achieve local business goals.

    Education

    • Grade 12/ SAQA Accredited Equivalent (Essential); Business related degree; Charted Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) qualification (Advantageous)

    Experience

    • 3-5 years’ experience in source to pay cycle managing high complexity commodities (e.g IT harware, software, professional services) in procurement (Essential). 3 or more years junior to middle people management experience (Essential)

    Job Purpose

    • Capture and process VAPS claims efficiently and accurately through drawing on the relevant criteria to ensure standardisation across the organisation to enable decision making on a claim.

    Responsibilities

    Customer Management (Internal)

    • Help manage customer by carrying out standard activities to complete the customer request.

    Data Collection & Analysis

    • Ask questions, collect data from a variety of sources, analyse information and investigate claim. Make decisions according to established criteria to ensure standardisation across the organisation by accurately administrating and underwriting claims. Use appropriate tools (supplier contract and/or negotiation) to accurately cost applicable claims on a day-to-day basis.

    Work Scheduling and operational compliance

    • Organise own work schedule in order to get the job done, coordinating with support services and completed work within SLA. Ensure claims are finalised within the set parameters (turnaround time, terms and conditions applied accurately). Remain up to date with current and new product knowledge to enable effective decision making.

    Administration

    • Produce, update and provide best practice support to customers on the claims administration process and other departmental systems, in line with claims policy, rules and SLAs.

    Correspondence

    • Respond to routine requests using telephonic conversation or emails (internal and external). Ensure regular feedback to customer, service providers and other stakeholders, as determined by the company and/or customer requirements to ensure customer receives appropriate feedback from the claim department.

    Document Management

    • Create, organise and maintain files containing the correspondence relating to policies and matters and claims to be uploaded on internal system.

    Document Preparation

    • Prepare and manage claim documentation for customers.

    Up-sell Customer Propositions

    • Identify a selection of products or services that may meet the customer's requirements, explain the product/service features influence the customer to add additional products/services.

    Education

    • Matric / Grade 12/ SAQA Accredited Equivalent (Essential); Regulatory exam 5 (Advantageous)

    Experience

    • 0-1 year experience, especially client services – which includes capturing applications, instructions, reporting, and attending to IFA and client queries (Essential); Experience in the Financial Services environment (Advantageous)
